The content of classes in circus art. Educational program

If you want a holiday - go to the circus. Such an entertainment facility is available in any large modern city. Artists delight the audience with complex acrobatic numbers, magic tricks, performances with animals and other amazing tricks. Many people believe that only people born in families of circus dynasties can get into the circus arena. In fact, this is a big misconception. In order to become a circus performer, it is necessary to graduate from a circus school in Moscow. To date, this is the only profile educational institution throughout our country.

Is circus art a calling?

To the audience, the circus seems to be a continuous holiday and magic. In fact, each number is the result of hard training, nerves and pain. The work of circus artists is associated with great danger. Even experienced craftsmen in the midst of their careers, they sometimes get seriously injured.

At its core, any genre of circus art is a symbiosis of complex sports and acting. How successful an artist will be depends largely on his self-control, artistry, and ability to communicate with the public. Many representatives of circus dynasties argue that it is worth coming to work in this area only by vocation. If the dream of your whole life is a circus, it makes sense to think about how to get into a circus school in Moscow.

You can enter this educational institution after finishing nine or eleven classes of any secondary school. Applicants should understand that, due to the specifics of the profession, entrance examinations consist not only of examinations of the general education program. It is necessary to have at least basic choreographic or sports training. At the school today there is a circus section, admission to which will be introduced from the age of 5. There are similar institutions of additional education in many other Russian cities.

Applicants involved in acrobatics, ballet, artistic and some other sports have good chances to become circus artists. All these disciplines are quite complex, and it is believed that you can succeed in them if you start teaching a child no later than 7 years old. Parents who dream of a circus career for their child should understand that intense training can negatively affect academic performance in the general education school curriculum.

History of the only circus school in Russia

In the fall of 1927, the People's Commissariat of Education of the USSR issued a resolution, according to which it was ordered to organize an institution for the training of circus performers in the capital of the state. The training was conducted in the format of courses lasting three years. Gradually, the educational institution developed, and after some time it was reorganized into a technical school. Together with the new name, the circus school in Moscow received a building with a full-fledged arena. Quite quickly, the educational institution earned a good reputation for itself. The school changed its name several times. In 1987, the educational institution was once again renamed. The assigned name has survived to this day - State school circus and pop arts. M. N. Rumyantsev. Today, the educational institution is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Culture.

Modern everyday life of the circus school

Since 1961, the circus school in Moscow has been training pop artists, speech and original genres. Today, this educational institution remains the only one of its kind in our country. Only here you can get a professional circus education. Every year a large number of applicants from all over the country dream of becoming students of the GUTSEI. The most common entrance exams are:

  • Russian language
  • Mathematics (basic level)
  • Literature - a profile subject, at the choice of the university
  • History - at the choice of the university
  • Creative exam - at the choice of the university

The formation and development of circus art is inextricably linked with the development of the historical process, firmly fitting into the context of the formation of the most civilizational model of modernity. The origin of circus art is associated with games, rituals of the dawn of the formation of mankind, the emergence of new crafts and professions. Different genres were born and spread in different historical eras, along with the genres, the priorities of the audience also changed. The circus is one of the most democratic forms of art, formed on the basis of theatrical sports competitions and folk square performances. The main hero of the circus is an artist who overcomes seemingly insurmountable obstacles, whose tasks include the poeticization of hard physical labor, the creation of generalized artistic images.

Admission conditions

The main form of creating artistic images of future circus performers is tricks, the organic synthesis of which with acting actions constitutes a number, and their totality, in turn, becomes a performance.

The creation of each individual trick requires the artist to be able to synthesize music, dance, pantomime, painting, to have plasticity of movements, which requires future graduates to have a high level of development of creative abilities, knowledge and understanding cultural heritage countries.

As an entrance examination, applicants must pass the following disciplines:

  • Russian language,
  • story,
  • literature (profile).

Applicants in a compulsory contract are interviewed by representatives of the university in order to identify the development of creative abilities. Some universities put forward requirements for passing a creative exam as an additional one.

Where to apply

This direction is relatively new in the educational sphere of Russia.

To date, the following outstanding universities of the Russian Federation are training profile specialists:

  • UNIQ Institute;
  • East Siberian state academy culture and arts;
  • Orlovsky state institute arts and culture;
  • Belgorod State Institute of Arts and Culture;
  • Maimonides State Classical Academy.

Training period

The normative term of study (full-time) is 4 years, part-time, part-time - 5 years.

Disciplines included in the course of study

Creation of each program circus performance requires the joint efforts of directors, choreographers, artists, composers, artists. Accordingly, the preparation of a trick, number, performance requires future specialists to be able to combine knowledge of the theoretical disciplines of the direction, including:

  • the art of circus directing;
  • acting skills, the basics of practical directing;
  • circus history;
  • basics of circus management;
  • basics of circus genres, including acrobatics, juggling, gymnastics;
  • special classes by genre;
  • circus pedagogy and so on.

Acquired Skills

The main goal of circus art is to present the viewer with a person in all his power, perfection, and ability to overcome trials. The passion for the circus is based on the craving for a dream, a miracle, the desire to go beyond the ordinary, Everyday life. Circus artists demonstrate dexterity, strength, courage to the viewer, and the organization of the circus program itself is designed for spectators of all ages, skillful alternation of diverse numbers.

Both the organization of the performance and the demonstration of tricks require future artists to have a high level of formation of individual professional competencies:

Employment prospects by profession

University graduates are invited to work in domestic and foreign circus groups.

In addition, they can successfully engage in professional activities in the following positions:

  • actor,
  • acrobat,
  • circus performer,
  • illusionist,
  • juggler,
  • stuntman,
  • circus director,
  • producer
  • gymnast,
  • show director.

Talking about stable pay in the creative industry is quite problematic, however, circus performers are in a better position than other representatives of creative processions. When employed directly in the specialty in a circus troupe, a novice artist can count on wages in the amount of 1000-1200 dollars monthly. Separately, it should be noted that during tours, payment increases. Artists with world-famous names, for example, illusionists, can count on fabulous fees.

Prospects for professional development of graduates

Those of the bachelor graduates who are determined to achieve heights in their chosen field can continue the process of studying in the magistracy. The specialty is relatively new in our country, and masters of the profile will be in demand not only in the circus, but also teaching activities. In addition, studying for a master's degree will allow you to study circus art in detail, teach you how to organize truly unforgettable magical performances that will not only bring substantial income, but also a certain fame. A master's degree does not require confirmation for employment abroad, which is also important for specialists in this area. If desired, education can be continued in graduate school, doctoral studies in related areas.

After the fourth year, a certificate of completion of the training program in the variety and circus group "Nevsky Cascade" is issued.

Class mode

1 year – classes are held 2 times a week for 1 hour (for children with basic training)

1 year - classes are held 2 times a week for 2 hours.

Year 2 - classes are held 2 times a week for 2 hours.

3 years - classes are held 3 times a week for 2 hours.

4 years - individual-group lessons 4 times a week for 2 hours.

Individual classes for children with disabilities 1 time per week for one hour.

Children train in a single, non-restrictive form of clothing and footwear.

Admission conditions

All interested children aged from 6 to 10 years old are accepted into the team. Upon admission to the team, a medical certificate is required confirming the absence of contraindications for classes. An interview is conducted, which is the primary diagnosis of the basic physical data of the guys. Based on the results of this interview, children are enrolled in the corresponding year of study.

Step by step development of the program

The implementation of this program is carried out in stages and is designed for four years, each year has its own, clearly defined purpose:

the first year - general physical training and the development of basic exercises;

the second year - the development of acrobatic elements and connections;

third year - acquaintance with circus genres, choice of genre;

the fourth year is the improvement of skills.

The team as an environment for development, learning and

educating the child's personality

No educational work will take place if there is no contact, respect and mutual understanding between the teacher and the child. This also applies to relationships with parents.

Often, classes are structured in such a way as to provide an opportunity for the pupils of the team to demonstrate their achievements, the correct performance of individual elements and compositions, and also to help the teacher work with less successful children, instilling in them self-confidence.

At the same time, an individual approach to each child does not prevent the creation of a single, integral team, with its own traditions, which are formed over time.

The traditions of the team are holding the holiday “Birthday all year round”, which celebrates the birthdays of all the children of the team on the same day, the “Debut” holiday, where the members of the team who performed for the first time receive congratulations. The “Acting Book” is also awarded there, where all his subsequent performances are recorded.

The Nevsky Cascade team interacts with other teams of the art department of the Palace of Children and Youth Creativity in preparing joint performances, trips, holding holidays, such as New Year, KVN, sports events, etc.

The results of the development of the program:

Inclusion of parents in the activities of a single team

To improve the effectiveness of the process of education of children, the support and help of parents is necessary. At the same time, traditional parent meetings, open classes and conversations are not enough for parents to not only realize the importance of what their child is doing, what he experiences in the learning process and how difficult it can be to train, but also support the child during homework.

On the basis of the team for interested parents, an aerobics group began to work, where mothers not only train, but also master the performance of some acrobatic elements that their children practice in the classroom. Parents become more physically prepared, and also master professional terms. This allows them to provide specific assistance to their child. Now they attend children's classes more often and with a desire, their interest in learning outcomes is growing, they can adequately insure the child when working out some elements at home.

Forms of organization educational process and teaching methods

Classes are held in groups and small groups. The main forms of work are: training, rehearsals, open and credit classes, sports events, competitions and festivals, as well as creative meetings with professional artists and excursions to the circus.

In the classroom, a variety of methods of working with children are used: verbal, visual, practical, reproductive, search, inductive, creative

(viewing and analyzing video recordings of the team’s performances at competitions and festivals, stories and conversations with students, showing a teacher, for the most successful mastering of the program, credit and acting books are used, and visual cards with various complexes of acrobatic elements are used to record and control the implementation of exercises).

At the end of each year of study, children are given a sheet of personal achievements, which is the basis for enrolling them in the next year of study. After 4 years of study under the program, a certificate of additional education is issued.

    Hula Hup

    You will need for work:

    1. 30 hula - hoops. Of these, 5 are the main (working), the rest make up the "barrel".
    2. colored self-adhesive glossy paper - 10 meters

    - 3 meters of paper for 5 basic hula - hoops. Color: gold or silver

    - 7 meters of multi-colored paper for the "barrel"

    1. adhesive tape transparent, 2 cm wide
    2. fishing line - 7 meters
    3. stationery scissors

    To design 5 main hoops, you will need 3 meters of shiny self-adhesive paper of the selected color. The paper must be cut into strips, 2 centimeters wide. Next, take a hula-hoop and start pasting work. Peel off the self-adhesive paper protective layer and start sticking on the hula hoop. The paper should be tightly applied to the object, wrapping the hula-hoop without distance. Each "step" of paper - self-adhesive should make a small overlap on the previous one. After pasting with a shiny layer, you should start wrapping with tape. You should act by analogy with pasting with shiny paper.

    For the design of the "barrel" you will need 7 meters of self-adhesive paper. Each hula-hoop must be pasted over by analogy with the main hoops. Next, hula - chuppahs must be formed into a "barrel", that is, connect 25 hoops into a single object. To do this, you need to take a fishing line. Fasten on both sides of the first hoop and then tie a knot around each hula - hoop on both sides. Hula hoop line pitch is 10 centimeters. On the last hula-hupe, the fishing line should be carefully fixed.

    The performance props are ready.

    But in order for the hula hoops not to lose their shiny and bright appearance during transportation, a special cover must be sewn for them.

    For the cover you will need:

    1. raincoat fabric: length 3 meters, width 80 centimeters
    2. sewing threads, scissors
    3. rubber cord and "stopper" fixers.

    In order to make a cover, you need to cut the fabric into a “circle”. By sewing the two ends of the fabric you will get the desired shape. It is necessary to process the edges of the fabric inside the cover, when sewing them, do not forget to leave a place for inserting the cord. After processing the edges, take the cord and insert it into both sides of the case, put the stopper. Fasten them and the cover is ready.

    Scheme for creating a cover for hula - hoops.

    1. connecting the fabric into one piece

    2. ready-made case

    Safety instructions for rotating hula hoops.

    When rotating the hula hoop, the following safety precautions must be observed:

    1. you need to keep a distance between each other. The distance must be at least 2.5 meters.
    2. “tear-off” rotations (for example, rotations on the elbows) must be practiced by 4 people in order to prevent the hula hoop from hitting partners.
    3. it is necessary to carefully listen to the rules for performing rotations, in order to avoid inaccurate actions that can lead to injuries.
    4. while doing the following tricks:

    - lifting a hula - a hoop from the floor with a foot;

    - performing rotations "pinwheel" and "hat"

    It is necessary to use special elastic bandages in order not to get sprains of the muscles of the ankle and hands.
