The singer must be Andrey Platonov: Music must be alive

Every aspiring star who at least once performed in a bar or club or laid out her track to the masses has her fans. Yes, at this moment it is, to a greater extent, only a group of people interested in creativity, but in the future it can grow in proportion to the popularity of the star. To do this, you must always keep in touch with people who are interested in the work of a musician. And the Internet will help in this - one of the most powerful and productive platforms for promoting yourself and your music. Runet provides a lot of opportunities for a beginner in the stage, each of which needs to be used. Groups in social networks, accounts on YOUTube and Instagram will definitely hook their target audience. But in order to generalize it and allow you to find all the information of interest in one place, you need a website.

Why does a beginner musician need a website and what do visitors expect from it?

The site of performing musicians is an important tool for communication with their fans. With the help of the resource, any person interested in the work of a pop artist can find out everything that interests him: a biography, a schedule of performances, see photos from photo shoots or performances, listen to and download music.

But the site of a young musician does not require such complex functionality as an online store or linking to paid services for downloading music. After all, he is just a beginner and his main goal is to tell as much as possible about himself and his work, to acquaint visitors with him. Those who first heard a singer or a singer in a bar, in a club or accidentally on a social network are unlikely to download paid music (only if the cost of the song is very low) or buy anything on his page. Therefore, the development of all the “bells and whistles” that are on the resources of popular pop artists will only be a waste of time and money.

Over time, your site can be developed by introducing new features and functions into it. In the meantime, it should become a tool for getting to know the performer. And for this it is necessary to think over, develop and include only a small number of elements that will certainly benefit visitors.

6 elements that will make a website interesting and useful for a musician

The most important part of a novice musician's website is the content. It should be emphasized on it, having developed a really interesting content that will help the visitor to draw all the information he is looking for.

Detailed information about yourself

Any site of a variety artist should contain a biography about him. The target audience is always interested in learning more about their idol. And visitors to the resource dedicated to the novice artist are no exception. People want to know who, where, what he likes, how the newcomer relates to creativity, when and where he was born, what he can offer his fans, in what musical genre he performs. Of course, it is unlikely that visitors will be interested in information about family life or the artist's favorite color, but here is a story about how he started his work and what he came to this moment- completely. And later, when the popularity of the star grows, you can update the bio by adding information that is interesting for the crowd of fans: about the second half, favorite films and other details that fans cling to.

Photo, video

High-quality photos of the star always highlight the site and attract attention. It's nice to look at professional pictures with the image of the performer. It's really beautiful. Therefore, a novice star should think about ordering a photo shoot. Let her not be a VIP level, but the photos must be good quality. Even better, if the photo shoot is created specifically for the site with a selection of images and colors that match the chosen design of the resource. Such pictures will hook the visitor and interest him. In addition, high-quality photos are always more in demand by visitors. They are more often downloaded and used for personal purposes.

Placing videos will not be superfluous on the artist's website. Recording from performances and events, a video message to your listeners, recorded excerpts from the life of a performer or performer will attract attention, which is very important for a beginner who plans to become a world-class star :-).

Poster

The poster of any offline performances must be present on the site. Perhaps this is why the visitor came to the site - he wants to visit the artist's concert again and he is interested in when the next one will take place. Therefore, it does not matter at all that the next performance will take place not on the big stage, but somewhere in a themed bar. Be sure to tell your target audience about this. The poster must indicate the place, date and time of the performance, as well as list other events in which the performer will participate.

Due to the decision not to develop and not include a poster on the site, a part of the audience is lost, which is very important for the star in terms of promoting her work. To increase interest in the individual, you can upload photos taken during the concert on the site.

Contacts

An important section on the star's website, which you can't do without. The performer may be contacted by members of the press or event organizers with various offers. And they need to be given the opportunity to communicate with the star or his representative (manager). The block of contacts should be as complete as possible. Here you need to specify a phone number, email address, integrate groups social networks using icons. In general, to offer all possible channels of communication for the convenience of the visitor. Here, the form will not be superfluous feedback with a call to action.

Block of reviews and wishes

It is very important for an aspiring star to know what the audience thinks about his work. Why not give her a chance to speak? At the stage of “climbing the showbiz ladder”, you can give your listeners the opportunity to express their emotions about the past performance or event, express wishes, ask a question, and so on. This will create a strong bond between the listeners and the performer, which is very important for a beginner.

Links to social networks

By subscribing to the social network, the user can view up-to-date information about the musician, getting to know him better, discuss it with subscribers and always be up to date latest news. It is also necessary to place a link to the site on the pages of social networks, thereby increasing the number of visitors to the web resource.

What should a songwriting website look like?

Design of a new website dedicated to ascending musical group, singer or singer, requires no less attention than the site of music performers known throughout the world. After all, the perception of the resource by the visitor, his convenience and further desire to be on the page and surf it depend on the design. What are the main requirements for the quality design of such resources?

The right choice and combination of colors

Needless to say, it's silly for a rock musician's website to choose a pink background color with white flowers? Colors must fully correspond to the image of the performer, his temperament, musical genre. The target audience must correctly perceive the artist. Therefore, the combination of colors must be selected correctly. Let it be a standard combination of black and white, white and gray. The main thing is that it looks beautiful and matches the type of the performer.

Easy navigation

Even appearance the site will be luxurious, but at the same time the resource itself will have incomprehensible or complex navigation, the project will never see success and development. It should be easy for the user to navigate the site. He must understand where to click in order to find the information of interest to him. Everything should be logical and understandable. Development of structure and navigation is carried out at the first stage of site creation. Therefore, it is important not to miss anything, so that later you do not reap the fruits of your mistakes.

Readable fonts

No matter how interesting the content is, if it is presented in small or unreadable type, it will not be useful. The font should be large enough, not have frills and not cause pain in the eyes due to the parsing of letters.

Adaptive design

If you want to cover your entire target audience without losing a single visitor, you need to develop an adaptive version of the site. Most Internet users use mobile gadgets to surf the Internet. It is logical that it is more convenient for them to view the site of an aspiring star through their smartphone. That is why the resource must be displayed correctly on all existing mobile gadgets, which is where adaptive design will help.

A few words about functionality

The volume and type of site functionality directly depends on the level of popularity and the capabilities of the performer. For example, if he is sure that the artist's songs will be downloaded from paid resources, then the site should allow the user to do this here and now.

A similar requirement for the placement of an audio player. If the singer already has studio tracks or even released an album, then be sure to place the player on the site, giving visitors the opportunity to listen to the star's work. This also includes subscribing to a newsletter, posting a forum or blog, and other functions that are relevant to users.

For a novice performer, as a rule, such complex functions are not needed. At the moment when he is just starting to develop his work, the star should interest the public in his work, offering to find out information about himself and his performances. In the future, when popularity increases, the site needs to be improved by introducing all the key features that can not only retain fans, but also bring additional income to the star.

5 Examples of Good Beginning Star Websites

Using the example of novice performers on the Russian stage, we will show what sites can be that contribute to the popularity of singers and singers.

Example 1. Singer Vladimir

Let's start the review from the website of the young Russian singer wanting to snatch a sweet piece of the Showbiz pie.

kvladimir.com

From the first spread, the site makes it clear that we are not dealing with a beginner who sings in local bars, but with a young professional performer. At the very least, high-quality design and functionality is trying in every possible way to emphasize this.

With a claim to success, the content contains the most common blocks. There is a poster, a biography, and high-quality photographs. And even though the volume of content is very small, and the poster indicates that the singer is still a beginner, the site looks decent.

In terms of functionality, the site only has the ability to download just three songs from iTunes. An audio player is also built in, with which you can listen to groovy pop tracks.

At first glance, the site creates a pleasant impression. Unobtrusive design with plenty of volume white background and accents on bright pictures, simple and clear navigation, accessible functionality. Everything is simple and interesting. Well, what else is needed for the user?

The peculiarity of this site and other quality sites for beginner musicians is that the resource gives the user a general idea of the singer or singer. This is very important, since most newcomers to showbiz make money from corporate parties or small events. Therefore, the site helps to understand the visitor likes the performer or not, whether he is ready to cooperate or not. And if you like it, order his performance. This project can easily become an example to follow.

Example 2. Max Leads

Before us is a vivid example of the site of a singer who relatively recently began his career.

lidov.info

The first turn hints to us that we have a real local celebrity in front of us! The main page, which consists of this spread, reveals a photo of the artist, information about the upcoming event, and a functional button for buying a ticket. This is quite convenient for fans - no need to look for resources to sell tickets to a rising star's concert.

In terms of functionality, the site is quite simple. There is a page with videos, including professional clips…

and a page with audio tracks that you can listen to online.

The site does not have a full poster and this is a fat minus for developers. No photo gallery and really not enough content to connect with visitors. For example, a blog, LiveJournal or reviews. But there is a huge sheet of biography about the performers, which at least partially helps to cover the lack of content.

In general, the site leaves good impression, but, objectively, it looks raw. Improvement required. However, this is all fixable and, for sure, the revision will be carried out in parallel with the growth of the singer's popularity.

Example 3. Olga Buzova

We could not pass by Olga Buzova, a singer with great story ascents to the hot musical TOPs of Russia, Ukraine and foreign countries. At the moment, the performer is very popular in the CIS countries and has millions of fans. It would be really strange not to look at her site. By the way, it is quite specific.

buzovaolga.ru

The specificity of the resource lies in the fact that it consists of only one turn. There is no functionality and content familiar to us here. Instead, just a background screensaver in the form of slides of the singer's photo, a number of videos from Instagram and links to social networks. It is in them that the performer is active. Therefore, in this particular case, the site is a kind of bridge between the singer and her groups, social media accounts. But on the Wikipedia site there is a direct link to the site, which is important for users.

Example 4. Nazhmiddin Mavlyanov

Opera aspiring performer with a very simple but informative site.

najmiddinmavlyanov.com

A very simple site in terms of design and functionality, which indicates that the performer is just starting his creative way and your development. At the same time, the information provided is exactly what is needed for the target audience. Without pathos, the biography of the singer ...

and his awards as proof of his professionalism.

Of the minuses, I would like to note ill-conceived navigation. Categories that should have been placed in the main menu are for some reason placed in the “More” tab.

Because of this, some users may be lost, as few will guess to look into this category in order to search for a video or photo.

In general, the site does not cause a storm of emotions. But, taking into account only the initial path of the artist's work and his low popularity from the world point of view, this resource is quite enough for a narrow circle of fans and admirers of the artist.

Example 5. Group ME.DIGITIZED

A Russian rock band that wants to join the ranks of a foreign showbiz.

medigitized.com

This is also evidenced by domain zone , and English-language content.

Very brutal design, little functionality - the site, to a greater extent, plays an exploratory role. Only the key elements are collected here: biography, contact block, news block and gallery. By the way, the gallery is made in the form of slides. Not very convenient if you want to see the photo in more detail.

From interesting - playlist onhome page and its design. Hovering over a song brings up social media icons that you can use to share.

The resource can hardly be called professionally developed. It is quite simple and unobtrusive. But, referring to the target audience, perhaps such a solution has a place to be. And we will not argue with him.

Is a music artist website required?

Finally, I would like to say just one thought. If an aspiring performer wants to become famous, receive excellent fees for performances and be an idol for millions, then creating a personal website is not a whim, but a necessity. This is a fairly simple, but very effective tool that can become high-quality communication with your fans. Namely, communication with listeners is the most important factor for personal and creative development rising star.

People with good voice and hearing dream to perform on stage, to be popular performers or band members, stars of opera or musicals, get applause and be recognizable. In fact, there are hours of hard work behind the scenes of the profession. will talk about the professional qualities of the singer, where to go and where to work.

Who is a singer?

He brings art to society, using the most ancient "musical instrument" - the voice. How many musical genres, so many singers: pop, opera, chamber, jazz, rock singers, bards, choristers, etc. Persistent people with an outstanding talent for singing are admired all over the world.

The career of a singer is attractive, so the competition in this field is huge.

Professional skills and qualities

Preparing for a debut requires patience. The performer is studying musical notation, hones acting, dancing skills. If you want to learn to compose music. The performance of one song on stage is preceded by many hours of rehearsals. Greater success in show business is achieved by charming and charismatic people.

The style of the singer's performance depends on the timbre of the voice, interest in certain genres and artists, and inspiration. For example, jazz genius Ray Charles had one of the most unique voices in the history of music. He could do whatever he thought of - growl, grunt or squeal, and it looked like art

Where to work?

Pop singers start with performances at small venues - in bars, restaurants, clubs. Young academic performers take on minor roles in theatrical performances, backing vocal. The internet helps a lot. With the help of social networks and YouTube, sharing your creativity is easier.

Experienced musicians with pedagogical skills teach vocals, lead musical groups

Where to go?

They offer specialties Folk art”, “Academic singing”, “Variety art”. Musical and pedagogical education is received in

The State Academic Musical Theater of the Republic of Kazakhstan presented its interpretation of the famous national rock opera

This is one of the most complex roles in my repertoire - both vocally and in a dramatic way, ”wrote the young tenor Shamkhal Khachaturian on social networks, whose Orpheus harmoniously absorbed both the tender love of a talented young man and the gross depravity of a singer blinded by fame. And Crimean Telegraph visited the most anticipated premiere of the outgoing theatrical season.

“In the final, we have tears in hail”

“But where did the snake go?”, one spectator half-jokingly asked the other during the intermission, because, according to ancient Greek myth, it is because of this reptile, which bites the careless Eurydice, that poor Orpheus finds himself in the realm of gloomy Hades.

There is nothing like this in the rock opera by composer Alexander Zhurbin, written in 1975. Her plot does not resonate with the myth, with the exception of a formal scheme: the love and separation of the heroes, as well as Orpheus's attempt to regain Eurydice. True, there is Charon - the carrier of the souls of the dead, and also as a leitmotif the phrase "Go and don't look back."

In short and without any special spoilers: Orpheus goes to the Golden Lyre singing competition, wins it and, as befits a famous person, goes all out. And at home, the faithful Eurydice is waiting for him, not suspecting that her lover is no longer the same as he was before. The final, by the way, is more or less open. And stock up on handkerchiefs - it will come in handy to get your eyes wet.

To captivate the audience with a voice that "captivated the whole world", a graduate of the Belarusian state academy Arts Shamkhal Khachaturian rehearsed every day for five to six hours. Moreover, the artist has no replacement: he is the only such tenor in the music theater. Shamkhal recalls: when asked if he could play Orpheus, he confidently stated that he could. And then I looked at the notes and began to doubt. But I decided not to back down.

“Not every theater takes on this work, since it contains very complex vocal material: there must be a high tessitura. Of course, a big load on the ligaments. In addition, constant rehearsals, then runs ... Yes, I was advised to save myself, but I just can’t work at half strength. When you enter into the image - it all happens by itself. Talent is in work. Moreover, Vladimir Kosov's directing is very interesting. And all the artists did a great job, it was a pleasure to work,” Shamkhal told Crimean Telegraph.

So Emilia Memetova, who played the incredibly airy Eurydice, admits that she was very lucky with her partner.

“He (Shamkhal. - Ed.) is an experienced and talented actor, he gives 100%. I feel his love on stage, especially in the finale, when both of us are in tears, - Emilia shared her impressions. - It was not difficult for me to perform the arias of Eurydice, because, while studying at the conservatory, I sang entire opera parts. Here, you only had to play with your voice, adding a pop style to singing, which, in turn, more intensified the dramatic colors.

It is impossible to ignore one more hero, to whom the audience applauds especially actively - this is the above-mentioned Charon (Vladimir Kudryavtsev / Artyom Skokov): he suffered the same fate as Orpheus. The image is very colorful, mystical. Monumental. And these "afterlife" long hair(thanks to postigers) add proper catchiness to it.

And how spectacularly Charon appears on the stage! In the boat, surrounded by evil spirits (by the way, the images of all otherworldly creatures turned out to be quite unusual).

Orpheus - brilliant and in sparkles

The costumes of the chief artist of the theater Zlata Circens are, without exaggeration, always an aesthetic celebration. Holiday style. Show card. So in the premiere rock opera, the viewer is offered a kind of “fashionable sentence”: to evaluate what Orpheus was before and what he became after.

In the first case, it is a bright image of an immaculate young man dressed in a white tunic made of thin, translucent fabric. In the second, it is already tempted by Fortuna, a star in outfits generously studded with sequins, caressed by the attention of fans.

"You are a singer, and a singer must sing." And shine. Because the fanatical and raging crowd demands it. And in this sense, the artist hit right on target: with the help of spectacular and deliberately pretentious costumes, she turned the main character into a "singer for everyone." However, only for a while. Indeed, in the finale, Orpheus will return to his original sublime image and again become a "singer for Eurydice."

Music Modernization 1975

It is clear that the music written by Zhurbin more than 40 years ago no longer holds up to criticism, so it needed to be modernized, made more saturated, or something. The theater even bought a powerful drum kit. And indeed: the modernized musical episodes - and the performance is accompanied by an orchestra - capture from the first minutes.

“I honestly admit that we, accustomed to classical works, operettas, faced with extraordinary and not typical of our theater musical material. So there was a little excitement. But gradually, getting acquainted with the arias, we fell in love with the music of each number ... ”, - conductor-producer Elmira Mukhterem shared in social networks.

We wish potential viewers to fall in love with the music of this bright, dynamic, sensual, sometimes outrageous performance in the same way: on June 14, the 62nd theater season will close with Orpheus.

Every aspiring singer should know that if you just stand and sing well on stage, then it is unlikely that the audience will be interested. Here are some tips to help you put on a great show.

Steps

Love the songs you sing. It's a common phrase, but if you don't put your heart and soul into the song, you've got this will be false and/or disgusting. Even if it's a cover, try as much as possible to connect the words of the song and the feelings.

Smile as much as possible. Even if you are the most emo, your actions should look like you are having a good time, because sullenness is not to the liking of the listeners. Let the audience see that you are having a great time, and you will be able to create the desired effect. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't change your feelings between songs, it just means that you shouldn't look serious while performing.

Move! Go ahead, don't stand in one place feeling awkward! If you are constantly moving, even just a little, your movements will attract the attention of the audience. Good examples of singers who moved a lot are Axel Rose, Freddie Mercury, Morrissey, David Lee Roth, Bruce Dickinson, Michael Jackson, Bono, Hayley Williams and Robert Plant. Watch videos of some of your favorite artists on Youtube to see what they are doing on stage and move on to the next step.

Steal the moves of the great guys. Go ahead, no one will blame you if you copy some ideas famous singers. Axel Rose became famous for his stage presence both among fans and critics. Don't copy one person and do not copy all their movements. Highlight the moments you love the most and make them your own. After all, seeing how easy they are to do "crazy" things on stage will make you feel more comfortable doing your stage moves.

Learn to use facial expressions and postures to combine them with emotions. Be careful not to pinch your throat or do anything else that interferes with good vocal technique! See how Geoff Tate uses his voice correctly and also expresses his emotions in a dramatic way.

Learn when NOT to draw attention. Sometimes you have to let the other members of the group take center stage. Otherwise, you will become selfish in the eyes of others! Remember David Lee Roth! Though it's great - every now and then to be Little spectacular, vocalists must sometimes back off.

Talk to your viewers. If you get an audience, it will grab their attention. Freddie Mercury sang the line and then asked the audience to repeat it. Get the listeners into the songs. Ask them non-standard questions (not "How are we doing tonight?!"), make them scream, tell them you want to see a fan zone, and things like that, depending on your style of music.

If you also play musical instrument(while singing) for example on guitar or bass and can't move much, use facial expressions or your hands to get the crowd to follow you and create a good atmosphere. It will be good to shout out: "Come On!" then use gestures to get the crowd to gather. Good examples: James Hetfield (Metallica), Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day), Geddy Lee (Rush), Matt Bellamy (Muse). Or if you play drums and sing, Aaron Gillespie (Underoath) is a good example.

  • When you are jamming, imagine that you are in front of the audience. This will prepare you psychologically to act and move in front of an audience.
  • Do not overdo it. Experience will help develop your style. Let it be unique and not be a parody.
  • Be sure to thank your audience! They gave you time to sing songs for them!
  • Have an idea of what you would like to do before going on stage and try to practice it. You do not want to be afraid and stand still. Prepare replicas for yourself; when you say a certain word, accompany it with a wave of your hand, or have the audience sing a few lines.
  • Establish a personal connection with the audience by telling stories or creating the backdrop for your songs, your band, or yourself.
  • Let go. After you've practiced and worked hard to make it easy, the only way to make it work great is to not worry about it and just go on autopilot.
  • Avoid "rock 'n' roll clichés," asking the crowd, "How are you tonight" or "Let's make some noise."
  • Make eye contact with other members of your group and the audience.
  • Dance! Better yet, create your OWN dance moves. When Michael Jackson performed the moonwalk, the audience gasped, and it became one of the greatest live performances.
  • Take some lessons acting skills if you feel like you have trouble expressing yourself or expressing your emotions.

Warnings

  • Prepare stage water to prevent dehydration and fainting during your performance!
  • Don't overdo the movements, remember that you are a singer first and foremost, hitting the right notes and keeping the key is more important.
  • Don't complain! If it's not important, let it go. Never speak ill of your band members, songs, or venues. You will run into problems and you will look petty.
  • Try not to think about bad things, otherwise you will just run into problems!
  • Don't forget to warm up your voice before taking the stage!

Professional singers and vocalists - each individual in their own way.

AT last article“Do you want to be a top-notch vocalist? Be him! - I talked about the five basic skills that a true vocalist should have. The last point was individuality. That's what I want to talk about and touch a few interesting questions that I encountered in my vocal practice.

To begin with, I want to ask these questions: “What is the difference between a vocalist and a reader [meaning a rap artist]?” and “What is the difference between a singer and a vocalist?”. You will answer the first question much faster and more confidently than the second. Although, in fact, the main answer will be the same. A singer is a variation and narrower specification of a vocalist. This also applies to all vocal styles: rap artist, rock soloist, jazz singer, opera singer, etc. A vocalist is a person who performs various vocal parts (both basic and harmonic), including recitation, recitative, vocalization, vocal accompaniment, etc. The vocalist is able to work in several different, sometimes even opposite, musical directions, which makes him a specialist of a wider profile than a singer.

In my life I met both vocalists and singers. And, I can assure you, there are many more of the latter for one simple reason: vocalists are mostly music lovers, and singers are lovers of one or related musical trends. As an example, I can give the first vocalist of my ex-group " DizZy » [I mentioned the group earlier in the articles]. Despite the fact that the group worked mainly in the direction of rock music, the vocalist already had experience in such areas as Vocal Trance, Vocal House, Jazz, Blues, Arabic Music, same Rock , as well as chanson, folk songs and a number of different directions, which I don’t even remember and, perhaps, I don’t know about. She was indeed a vocalist. As a counterbalance to it, I can cite most of my friends from the world of music, most of whom are pop singers. But there are also rock soloists, rap artists, opera singers. Distinctive feature: many musical directions not recognized or considered worthy of their attention.

Singers have their pros and cons. The singers work in certain direction, perfecting its vocal elements. This makes the singers the "base", but not the "progressive engine" of this direction due to the unwillingness to see music world beyond their conception of it. The vocalist, in turn, cannot be such a “base”, but can easily become the beginning of a new direction or style. The vocalist is a constantly progressing element. If the vocalist stops in a certain direction and lingers in it for long years, he may lose his "internal engine of progress" and turn into a singer of his chosen direction. In most cases, this is what happens. However, there are also singers who decide to go beyond their usual horizons and move into the ranks of vocalists. Roughly speaking, a kind of eternal and paradoxical "Yin-Yang".

As I wrote in a previous article, a first-class vocalist must be individual. In principle, this also applies to singers. But then I leave out the singers for the reason that I think every singer should strive to become a vocalist, and not vice versa.

So, about the individuality of the vocalist. I want to note right away that it should not be confused with such a concept as “personality” - these are two different concepts! Each person is something, but a person. An individual is one who stands out from the crowd of the social mass of individuals. They say that every person is different. I'll add it my way. However, in the world of music, not every vocalist or musician is an individual! Again referring to the previous article, a striking example of this was the speech of Maria Solomnishvili in qualifying round Ukrainian version of the show "X-factor".

What do I mean by the personality of a vocalist? The individuality of the vocalist is his distinguishing feature from the usual, standard, classic In other words - its "zest". Although, if the vocalist is individual, however, in the wrong direction, then I like to say about such a vocalist in Ukrainian: “Win just maє іnsha unfinished birthmark!» [It just has a different unique flavor]. And there are not so many vocalists with "rodzynkami", but they exist! Unfortunately, I did. And I generally keep quiet about singers with "rodzynkami".

What is this distinctive feature? A small change in habitual vision is enough to become individual. As for vocalists, the easiest way to highlight your individuality is with the help of unknown works. To do this, you need to distinguish yourself from the background of the usual standard of the general mass of vocalists. But, if you decide to show your individuality with popular work, then you should mentally prepare yourself for a harsh stream of criticism against your personality. Those who are not ready for this can simply be washed away from the musical arena.

Suppose you are a vocalist who was invited to perform at a military-patriotic evening dedicated to Victory Day. You are asked to perform the well-known song "Katyusha". The task is not easy if you want to show your individuality. How will you prove yourself in this work (after all, indeed, this is already a difficult job). Do you have a standard phonogram, familiar words and military uniform are the main conditions of the problem. We add here that when you go out to perform, something new and incredible is expected from you, since you are popular and recognizable ... And here is the familiar Katyusha, and you can’t seem to surprise her. You do not want to show yourself as an ordinary vocalist [the first three skills that were mentioned in the previous article], just leave an impression somehow also not in your way [fourth skill]. You need to keep your brand, your peculiarity, your individuality, so as not to dissolve in the huge mass of vocalists and singers who have been performing this song in different variations for more than 70 years before you. And you also have a familiar soundtrack!

What in this case can become individual and set you apart from this mass? More fortunate are those to whom nature itself has given unique features for vocals, for example, a unique and inimitable voice timbre. It is more difficult for those whom nature has not endowed with such super-features and it is difficult to stand out from the masses. This is where creativity and creative thinking, which will help, in the truest sense of the word, "make" you individual. Here I include special gestures, special facial expressions, special effects, elements of productions, non-standard solutions, improvisations, etc. With a successful performance, you get an enthusiastic majority of the audience, with a failure - discontent. In both cases, there is a huge stream of criticism with various emotional charges. Whatever the case, there are always satisfied and dissatisfied parties - the law of life balance. Everyone who is talked about writes only from a good or only from a bad side - they cannot be professionals! The more various criticisms, the more professional the vocalist (in principle, this applies to any field of art, including musicians and DJs).

Therefore, if you want to be "special" - be prepared for it! To do this, you need confidence, which I also want to talk about.

Let me start with the fact that today I listened to one amateur track, which reminded me of my first mistakes, not only in terms of vocals, music, etc. These were my mistakes in terms of life! I wasn't sure what I was doing. And this is very, very bad! I won’t procrastinate now on the need to be confident in life - I focus on the main theme of the article: you need to be confident when you sing, confident that you need to sing, confident that you are able to sing the way you want to.

It always seemed to me that I was not able to sing the way I wanted to. But there came a moment when confidence in one's abilities outweighed the fear of other people's opinions, criticism, fear of making mistakes and others. discomfort. Now, when they tell me that I am self-confident, I answer: “Yes, I am!”. The main thing is that it does not work out like in that joke. A small digression.

For an hour in a row, a frail man and a luxurious lady are having tedious and boring sex. Both are drunk. How they got there is a clear story. She stands on all fours (as they say, cancer), and he behind her, if only as, but moves slowly and periodically. From boredom and lack of proper pleasure, the lady gradually falls asleep. Complete silence and a slight creaking of the bed. He keeps trying to do something there. In order to stay awake, he lights a cigarette, drawing the smoke into his lungs in small portions. Suddenly, imperceptibly, a little ash from his cigarette falls on her small of the back. Half asleep, she cries out: “Ai!”. In response, he erotically says in a proud and confident voice: “Yes, I am like that!”.

Well, that's kind of a joke. In a word, self-confidence also has its own face and it needs to be seen. It is not difficult to develop, but it needs a true foundation that will not be shaken.

Today, I believe, thanks to this confidence, I do not have to spend a lot of time on exhausting vocal rehearsals. If I have not sung for three or four months in a row, two two-hour rehearsals and moderately hot tea are enough for me to restore my vocal voice properly, unlike most who recover for months, drink raw eggs and worry that they will not be able to recover. At the same time, at the rehearsal, I will not load my brain with various chants like “Ma-mo-mo-we-mi”, but I will immediately begin to sing my favorite repertoire, not being afraid that I can break my voice during vocalization or during improvisation. The first skill (the ability to control your voice) and one more thing also work here.

I really like the words of Master Shifu from the comedy cartoon "Kung Fu Panda": "When you concentrate and think only about kung fu - it sucks!". In general, this cartoon is ideal for giving an example of the importance of confidence in your favorite business - I recommend it. I can absolutely say the same about singing. The more you think about how to hit the notes correctly, how not to make mistakes in the text during performance, how not to break your voice during a performance, you get a similar crap. I do not deny that every vocalist must know musical notation and hit the notes, I do not deny that it is necessary to memorize the lyrics of the song (on the contrary, I even demand this). All this is necessary - this is the basis for confidence, which I spoke about above. But now I'm talking about something else. During a performance (or the same recording), you need to feel through and through the work that you are performing, hear every sound, and give the listener all your inner energy as you wish (I emphasize - as you wish!), and not as you would like hear those around you. You must not only like it, you must be sure that you like it! Here is another element of individuality, which is unpredictable and depends on many factors: your inner world, emotional state at the moment, desire and self-confidence.

That's all I wanted to talk about today and I hope that I conveyed my idea of one of the most difficult moments in the practice of vocalists (and not only them). Perhaps some smaller details were missed by me, but the main ones were disclosed and taken into account. And, I hope that my next article will help those who have chosen the path of being a vocalist or singer!

And remember, everyone is unique and individual in their own way!
