Interesting ideas for decorating a children's reading room. How it works: through the halls of the Gogol Library

The library needs a clear division of zones and rooms into reading and service areas in order to ensure:

1. The shortest, non-intersecting flows of movement of readers and literature;

2. The simplest functional and planning connections, allowing you to refuse complex systems mechanization of transportation of literature, to ensure effective control over the safety of funds;

3. The ease of orientation of readers in the library, the absence of corridor communications in the reader's premises.

Lobby

The lobby, as it were, “luring”, attracting visitors to the library, should set it up for work. The lobby is the first room of the library, the culture of design of which, the layout, determines the perception by visitors of the institution as a whole and the rational direction of the flow of readers. Here, with the help of a special design, brighter than in other rooms, you can create a special emotional mood for the reader (“I came to the library”) and at the same time provide all the necessary advertising for the library.

Thus, the vestibule performs a purely unitary function - to orient a person in space, indicate directions of movement, inform about the current work of the library's mass events. Simplicity and clarity in the orientation of the reader inside the building is needed. From the very layout of the premises and design, such clarity and consistency are required so that readers can independently find the department they need.

The design and decoration of the interior of the lobby should be distinguished by simplicity and conciseness of decorative elements and colors. It must be finished with materials that allow wet cleaning of the floor, walls and equipment.

Reading room and subscription

One of the most difficult to organize the internal environment in the library is the reading room. Reading rooms should be provided with a capacity of no more than 100 reading places. It is unacceptable to design them with passages for other functional groups. The area of the reading room should not exceed 250-300 sq.m. The layout of the reading rooms should provide the ability to control the open access funds placed in them and monitor readers from the workplace of the librarian on duty. The division of free space into separate compartments and rooms should be carried out with the help of library equipment and non-stationary enclosing elements (light partitions, decorative lattices, etc.). At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the fact that the area of the reading room should not be less than 100-150 sq.m. An exception can only be made for reading rooms for children.

For the formation of the interior of the reading room, it is essential whether closed or open access to the fund is important, whether the issuing department is located inside the reading room or in the entrance hall. The reading zone, in which the necessary conditions must be created for the productive work of readers, requires special attention. If the lending department is located in the anteroom, then in the reading room, in addition to the "handy" library and the librarian's table, only reading tables are placed.

Tables are arranged perpendicular to the windows in parallel rows. It is envisaged that they do not stand against the wall and receive full daylight from the left side. For the reader, individual tables are preferable, but in order to increase the capacity of the hall, tables are used either for four people or for two. Tables with a vertical shelf (for books and a lamp) are convenient for readers, blocking the reader from others, allowing him to concentrate.

Some users prefer to study in small cozy reading rooms, reminiscent of home conditions. Therefore, sometimes a voluminous reading room is divided into two smaller ones by means of a double-sided shelving or landscaping; movable partitions are also used for this.

The hall can have traditional seats at single and double tables, reading areas on dedicated areas of the floor or lawn, booths for individual work, armchairs and advanced close to the windows, single fenced tables, and, finally, special places equipped with audiovisual aids, etc.

Lighting standards must be clearly defined and implemented in reading rooms. The maximum norm for illumination of a library room is 200 lux (lx) - in rooms where people work. At the same time, a combination of natural and artificial lighting is required in the reading rooms. Each table should have lamps for maximum illumination of the reading table.

Reading rooms (entrance hall, entrance hall, subscription, reading rooms, specialized departments, rooms for public events) are provided on ground floors, not higher than the third, so as not to arrange passenger lifts and provide an opportunity for convenient use by all readers of a single reference and information device. Subscription rooms, reading rooms and specialized departments should not be designed as walk-through rooms.

Children's reading room

As a matter of principle, it should be noted that the specifics of the layout of the room, wall decoration, equipment and furniture for children's libraries, in particular reading rooms, should differ from rooms intended for adult readers. In choosing the scale of design, the size of the decorative and artistic decoration of the walls, the ceiling, preference should be given to a larger pattern. In the decoration, bright colors are recommended, contrasting combinations of colors are possible. The furniture should be sized for the height of the children, painted, bright colors or covered with plastic. In such reading rooms, a more free, non-conservative arrangement of furniture is advisable.

Great importance in the design they have hanging cabinets, shelves, showcases, etc.

It is known that children are attracted by bright panels, decorative wall paintings, mosaics and other artistic and decorative design.

The panel is made of fabric or rolled paper, on the surface of which an application of colored paper is glued, forming the selected pattern.

Currently, modern visual means of visual propaganda (cinema, transparencies, television, etc.) are very popular.

Another design solution for the children's reading room is stands in the form of an open book. Illustrations, photographs, children's drawings are pasted on their pages. Each page is made of plywood or is a wooden frame, on which is pasted thick paper(cardboard). The sheets are mounted on a special metal rod, thanks to which they can be rotated.

The equipment and furniture for reading rooms consists of reading tables that can be used, in one case as boxes for storing toys, in the other as machines for drawing or making various games (crayons, colored pencils, etc.). The table tops are made of plywood and slats, and the drawers are made of furniture boards. The lids are reinforced with wooden spikes that are exposed to the top of the box. The angle of the table board when drawing can be changed. Sometimes they connect two boxes together, creating a reliable support for attaching two boards.

In children's reading rooms, it is necessary to provide a place for exhibitions, stands, shop windows, etc. Lightweight wall panels made of plywood or cardboard are pasted over with paper (white, color). For children and teenagers, inclined stands and showcases with top illumination are convenient.

book depository

In the storage area and the stationary book depository, all closed storage funds are located, where readers are not allowed. In small and small libraries (with funds up to 50 thousand volumes), a closed book depository, called a storeroom, is intended for temporary placement of duplicate copies of literature in the public domain of a subscription and reading rooms. Also for storing valuable publications on art and some types of medical literature, manuscripts and other documents arranged in a certain order for the purpose of easy search and prompt delivery to the appropriate library points. Seven-shelf single-sided and double-sided racks are used here.

Under the premises specially allocated for the book depository, one should understand the premises that are equipped with equipment that allows maintaining the necessary humidity and temperature conditions. These rooms must ideally comply with fire safety requirements. They must be equipped with devices that record the level of dust and allow you to achieve maximum protection against microorganisms.

Premises for the storage and use of the fund are located as close as possible to each other so that communications between them are the shortest and do not intersect with each other. To make it convenient for the librarian to work with documents, it is very important to properly organize communications between the processing department and the book depository, between the book depository and the reading rooms (the bulk of all books transported in the library - 90% - move here). The path in these sections should be as straight, short and horizontal as possible. The compartments of the book depository are designed taking into account the maximum allowable distances for carrying literature manually (to the trolley) - 6 meters and for delivering literature on trolleys (to the post of mechanical transport) - 24 meters.

Since all readers pass through the lobby, its advertising is focused on the mass needs of users. It must be located in the path of the reader's flow. At the same time, the zone is the most up-to-date information(list of services performed, announcement of events, etc.) should be placed opposite the entrance so that the visitor immediately pays attention to it. Other necessary information (for example, lists of periodicals subscribed by the library, working interest clubs, etc.) can be provided on both sides of the up-to-date information zone, including through the use of reference installations, terminals. In the design of the lobby of a library serving a certain territory, it is advisable to reflect the characteristics of the region (for example, local crafts, paintings by local artists, children's creativity), thereby drawing attention to the sights of the region, region, contributing to the formation of interest, love for their homeland.

The landscaping of the vestibule plays a special psychological role. Also in the lobby it is recommended to put a table with a notebook for the wishes, opinions of readers about the work of the library. (45, p.69).

Thus, the vestibule performs a purely unitary function - to orient a person in space, indicate directions of movement, and inform about the current work of the library's mass events. Simplicity and clarity in the orientation of the reader inside the building are needed. Reading room and subscription

One of the most difficult to organize the internal environment in the library is the reading room. This is where the most interesting meetings. The room in which it is located should be unusual and attractive. Here it is necessary to take into account various goals and psychological attitudes, needs and requests, age differences and the specifics of the reader's activity.

At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the fact that the area of the reading room should not be less than 100-150 sq.m. An exception can only be made for reading rooms for children (44, p. 410).

For the formation of the interior of the reading room, it is essential whether closed or open access to the fund matters, whether the issuing department is located inside the reading room or in the anteroom. The reading zone, in which the necessary conditions must be created for the productive work of readers, requires special attention. At the same time, a combination of natural and artificial lighting is required in the reading rooms. Each table should have lamps for maximum illumination of the reading table.

Of course, curtains and curtains play an important, and sometimes paramount, role in creating natural lighting and library design. After all, a room, even beautifully renovated, with excellent furniture does not look beautiful if the windows are “bare”. And vice versa, sometimes cozy curtains, soft light are enough - and the interior is almost ready. By the way, designers advise starting to think through the situation not from modern floor, wall and ceiling coverings and wallpapers, but from curtains and various additions to them.

The room in which the reading room is located is to some extent the center where it is reflected cultural life district, town, city. This purpose is served permanent exhibitions with frequently changing material, where you can get information about the news of the art of the region, republic, country, etc. The most moving part of the exhibition may consist of drawings by local artists, students of schools. National ornament can be used in header and shelf dividers.

You can create a small art gallery- collections of reproductions of paintings by famous artists.

Favorable working conditions in the reading rooms are also provided by the necessary microclimate parameters (temperature and humidity conditions and air exchange), optimal conditions for vision, noise reduction, partial isolation of the workplace with screens, partitions, boxes.

For the convenience of readers, it is necessary to comply with the requirements for the placement of equipment in the reader service rooms.

Reading rooms (entrance hall, entrance hall, subscription, reading rooms, specialized departments, rooms for public events) are provided on ground floors, not higher than the third, so as not to arrange passenger lifts and provide an opportunity for convenient use by all readers of a single reference and information device. Subscription rooms, reading rooms and specialized departments should not be designed as walk-through rooms (46, p. 71).

On the subscription with closed access to the fund, lists of services performed by the subscription, exhibitions (new arrivals on significant dates and other current newspapers, a list of periodicals subscribed by the subscription and the library as a whole, a bulletin of new acquisitions handed over by the user during the day of the book) are provided.

Next to the department of issuance, it is advisable to highlight reference materials(library prospectus, its printed catalogs, if available, subscription catalog, classification tables used in this library with an alphabetical subject index to them, telephone directory of the city (region), encyclopedic Dictionary, dictionaries of the Russian language, foreign words, etc.).

The library environment is organized somewhat differently, on loan, with open access to the fund. The space for users is in this case between the lending department, which, in order to regulate the flow of readers and control, is located at the entrance to the library fund premises. The most requested documents are close to the issuing department.

Open access is the face of every library and is created primarily for readers. It depends on how it is organized and designed, how readers will perceive it, whether they will feel comfortable here, whether they themselves will be able to freely navigate in it in order to find the necessary literature (12, p. 39).

Moreover, in front of each group, the guys from the same group “play” the desired work of art. Of course, they visit us for rehearsals 2 weeks before the event. Moreover, not the most talented children play in our theater. And these guys, with average creative abilities, are trying very hard in our “performances” and are happy to show their ability to turn a small passage artwork into a bright picture. The rest of the participants are active spectators of the event. They participate in competitions, quizzes, conduct a dialogue with artists, and young artists enjoy the attention of their classmates. Here, books "live" on double-sided shelves that look like houses. These houses can be moved because they are on wheels. And it turns out such a beautiful "street of books." Advertising often changes on the “facades of book houses” (quotes, slogans about reading). Exhibition racks are also new, and one of them is glass with backlight. And the expositions in it look just fabulous. Here, books "live" on double-sided shelves that look like houses. These houses can be moved because they are on wheels. Chief Librarian S.V. Barkova introduces first graders to the Kolokolchikov Street library space. We hold public events here. After all, on the "Street of Bells" as on a podium, you can place a ramp for the Theater of the book. If you need to use video stories, then the children will have to turn on their chairs, which is also very interesting, to the video wall where the technical equipment is located.

By the Day of Knowledge, the foyer was decorated with "chants" about the benefits of reading, balloons, maple leaves.

Watching the readers coming to the library, we saw that they read with pleasure and attentively everything that is on the walls. Therefore, during the work of the project on ecology "Journey through the constellation Ecologist", aphorisms, popular expressions, proverbs and sayings of an ecological and environmental orientation were placed in the foyer.

Brief, to the point expressions are often better than verbose and lengthy explanations. They are well perceived, well remembered. The children, every time they come to the library, have the opportunity to read again everything that is posted on the walls in the foyer. The opportunity to get acquainted with this information makes the reader's stay in the library more comfortable and interesting.

The next design was conceived as an exhibition-dialogue. The theme is "Our Motherland - Russia". Chitayka addresses the children and offers to pay attention to the library walls and get acquainted with the statements famous people about your country, with Russian proverbs and sayings about friendship, work, love for your homeland. And now children can not only read, but also illustrate what they read, reflect in their drawings the victories and achievements of Russia, the country in which they live.
