Compliance with sleep norms for the development and well-being of children up to a year

"Wake time". Have you ever heard of such a term that refers to babies? Personally, I did not hear about this when my baby was born. And in vain ... I found out about this when he was 1.5 months old, and before that it was a mystery to me - when does the baby need to go to bed. It turns out that the biorhythms of babies are different from ours. We usually wake up in the morning, stay awake all day, and go to bed in the evening. And only some adults sleep during the day. Toddlers are different. They sleep both day and night. This is due to the fact that their nervous system is still unable to be in an “active” state for so long and process so much information that is new to itself. Scientists, by observing tens of thousands of babies, determined how much they can be active so as not to overwork. After all, overwork for the baby produces the opposite effect than for us. When we get very tired, we immediately fall off our feet and instantly fall asleep. But the kids from overwork begin to get nervous, even cry, and cannot fall asleep, although they already want to. Therefore, in order for the baby to feel good, you need to know what time of wakefulness is recommended for his age.

What is wake time? In fact, this is the time from the moment you wake up to the moment you fall asleep. This includes feeding, playing (or "clean" waking), changing clothes, bathing, getting ready for bed (ritual), and falling asleep. That is, when forming the daily routine, you need to take into account the time during which the baby falls asleep, as well as preparation for sleep. If the waking time for your age is, for example, 2 hours, and getting ready for bed is about 15 minutes and falling asleep for the same amount, then you need to “fold” the games after 1.5 hours from the moment you wake up. Of course, you do not need to sit by the clock and wait for 1.5 hours to pass, you need to watch the child. Usually they begin to show signs of fatigue closer to the time they fall asleep, but you need to know when this happens. Because it often happens that, not knowing the time of wakefulness, mothers begin to put the kids to bed already late, when they are overtired, this makes the kids fall asleep badly and sleep worse. And mothers mistakenly think that the opposite is true.

Waking routines for babies:

0-2 weeks 15-40 min
2-4 weeks 50-60 min
1 month 1h/1h15min
2 months 1h 15/20min
3 months 1 h 20/30 min
4 months 1 h 45/2 h
5 months 2 hours/2 hours 30 minutes
End of 5 - beginning of 6 months 2h 30/3h
6.5-7 months 2 h 45/3 h 15 min*
8-10 months 3-4 hours*
11-12 months 3.5-4.5 hours*

*Some may have more

And if the baby is awake less / more?

In any case, the main guideline is the well-being of the baby. If he is cheerful and cheerful, does not act up for no reason, sleeps well day and night, then there is no reason for concern.

If the baby is less awake, then perhaps you just got a baby who loves to sleep. These babies often sleep a lot during the first months of life. In such babies, you need to be careful so that they get enough food, if necessary, wake them up during the day (not night) for feeding, if necessary, stimulate during feeding, monitor weight gain. In most cases, when the baby grows up, he begins to be more interested in the world around him and stays awake longer. If an older toddler cannot “stand” the wakefulness recommended for his age, then you should think that he is used to going to bed at a certain time or not getting enough sleep throughout the night. Separately, hyperfatigue should be excluded.

If the baby is awake longer, but feels normal and sleeps well throughout the day and night, it means that he may belong to the number of little sleeping children, who are also sometimes found. But if he goes to bed crying, has short naps during the day, and doesn't sleep well at night, that means he's overdoing it. With a long wakefulness, there is a risk of "driving" the baby into hyper-fatigue.

Of course, all kids are different. But what is striking is that during the first 6-8 months, their wake time is almost the same. Sometimes with an accuracy of 10-15 minutes. Later, of course, the “range” is already greater, and therefore the kids here may differ more, but still, most are awake for just that much. Therefore, save this table for yourself, and let it help you build your baby's day correctly!

The appearance of a baby for every family is a great joy, but at the same time, a great responsibility. In addition to the daily care of the baby - feeding, bathing, massage, walking and other procedures - you need to find time for homework, which does not disappear with the birth of a child. In addition, parents need to have time to rest so that they have the strength to fulfill all these duties. The correct daily routine will help the baby and parents to distribute energy and stay in a good mood all day. A.L. will help to plan the day. Karavaeva, neonatologist, junior researcher Department of Neonatology and Pediatrics, Department of Neonatology and Pediatrics, N.I. V.I. Kulakov.

The daily routine of a child of the first year of life is the alternation of periods of sleep and wakefulness, feeding, walking, hygiene procedures, as well as rituals associated with their implementation (for example, the ritual of falling asleep at night, morning awakening). Their duration and frequency depend on the nature of feeding and family traditions and change with the age of the child.

From birth, each newborn is tuned to a certain rhythm, which also reflects the period prenatal development, and the features of its development, and the need for the volume and frequency of feeding, and much more. In order for the baby to feel good, grow up healthy and active, it is necessary to carefully monitor him. It is important to find out all the features of the daily regimen of your baby and try to adapt to his biorhythms.

Daily routine: highlights

Every baby, regardless of what type of feeding he is on, must learn to adhere to a certain routine. The daily routine teaches the child to the correct change of sleep and wakefulness, teaches to distinguish between day and night, and also protects the baby from overwork, guarantees his activity and vigor, which is the key to physical and mental development. In addition, daily repeated actions calm the baby, create a sense of security, form discipline and lay many positive features for the future. According to some observations, children accustomed to the regime are less anxious, sleep more calmly, and have a better appetite.

Feeding

In children who are breastfeeding and breastfeeding on demand only in the first 1-1.5 months, during the establishment of lactation, the schedule will be sliding, but over time, the mother will be able to understand what are the approximate time intervals between breastfeeding. Usually, they are 1.5-2 hours in the first months and gradually increase as the child grows. Reducing the intervals between feedings or, conversely, increasing them by 30-60 minutes are not catastrophic. You should not strictly maintain 3 hours between feedings, as grandmothers and old-school pediatricians like to advise, because such a slightly sliding feeding regimen is optimal for both the baby and the mother. For a child, mother's milk is not only food, but also a way to communicate with mom, as well as comfort, for example, during a change in weather, or when the baby suffers from colic. Maternal warmth, tasty and healthy milk are the best sedatives that give the child, in addition to saturation, a sense of security, stability, peace and even joy. Regular attachment of the baby to the breast is the key to success, the formation of lactation, which will help to avoid many problems, for example, pumping, the appearance of milk stagnation (lactostasis) and many others.

Children, for one reason or another, who are bottle-fed, have more stable intervals between feedings. The volume and frequency of feeding are determined by the doctor observing the baby, depending on his weight, age, and also taking into account his physiological maturity. Premature and small babies tend to be fed more frequently (about every 2-2.5 hours) than large full-term babies (3-3.5 hours).

Complementary foods are introduced from four to six months. The child should gradually join to have breakfast, lunch and dinner at the allotted time, preferably with all family members.

In the first months after birth, the baby sleeps quite a lot. On average, the duration of sleep in the first month is about 20 hours a day. Starting from the 2nd month, the sleep time mainly moves to the night hours, and the waking time to the daytime. By 3 months, children sleep an average of 17-18 hours a day, and by six months - 16 hours, while night sleep accounts for approximately 10-11 hours. Of course, the alternation of periods of sleep and wakefulness, as well as the predominance of night sleep, is not immediately established.

Many parents cannot understand: why is their baby in the first month of life more active in the evening and, often, at night? To do this, it is enough to remember the nature of the intrauterine activity of the child. An illustrative example: future mom during the day she is quite mobile (she works, walks, makes movements around the house), while the baby is motionless and his activity is low. In the evening, when it’s time for sleep, the muscles of the mother’s abdomen relax, there are no more rocking movements, the baby begins to actively push and move, which indescribably pleases future parents. However, after birth, this evening activity does not disappear anywhere. A child during prenatal development has already become accustomed to living in such a regime and, naturally, it will take time for him to rebuild his rhythm.

wakefulness

In the first months after birth, the child's daily routine is, in fact, represented by feeding and subsequent sleep. Over time, the number and duration daytime sleep decreases, and the time of wakefulness - increases. Thus, the child's regimen begins to change. Several stages can be distinguished:

From birth to a month

The baby sleeps up to 20 hours a day, the breaks between feedings may vary depending on the type of feeding. During this period, the mother is more likely to adapt to the child's regimen than vice versa.

From 1 month to 3 months
The total duration of a child's sleep is reduced to 17-18 hours, the number of periods of sleep in the daytime - up to 4 times. The maximum duration of wakefulness is from 1 to 1.5 hours.

3 to 6 months
The total duration of the child's sleep is slightly reduced and is already 16-17 hours, the number of periods of sleep in the daytime is 3-4 times. The baby has been awake for 1.5-2 hours. Breaks between feedings can increase up to 3.5-4 hours.

6 to 9 months
The total duration of a child's sleep is already 15-16 hours. During this period, the baby switches to three daily naps. The baby has been awake for 3 hours. The average number of feedings per day is reduced to 5 times, the breaks between feedings are up to 3.5 hours.

From 9 months to a year
The total duration of sleep is 15 - 14 hours. Now the baby has enough sleep twice a day, approximately 2.5 hours each. By one year, most babies have one 2-3 hour afternoon nap. Breaks between feedings can reach 4.5 - 3.5 hours.

Of course, such a distribution into periods is very conditional. Often, children choose their own regimen (in accordance with their biological rhythm), and each mother needs to carefully monitor the behavior of the baby. For example, if he actively rubs his eyes and yawns, is naughty, or evenly sucks his chest, then you need to put him down earlier. Also, the need for prolonged sleep can increase during the illness of the baby, after suffering vivid emotions (both positive and negative), with fatigue. On such days, it is necessary to create calmer and more comfortable conditions for the child, since their abrupt change can negatively affect his condition. mental health. And vice versa, if the child does not want to sleep, you cannot forcefully put him down. It is necessary to give him the opportunity to stay awake a little more in order to “catch up” with sleep.

It should be remembered that all children, like adults, are not the same, therefore, depending on the age of the child and the type of his temperament, the amount of daytime sleep can vary greatly. Most children have an average sleep duration of about 12-14 hours by the year, but if your baby does not quite adhere to this “norm”, but at the same time feels good, then there is no reason for concern, even with not very stable daytime sleep.

In order to help a child of the first year gradually get used to the daily routine, you must try to adhere to a certain rule: fall asleep and wake up at a certain time. Putting the baby in the evening on time, you can be sure that he will sleep better and will be less capricious during the day. However, remember that this rule does not work in the first month and a half. Since during this period it is the mother who adapts to the needs of her baby.

rituals

Each child feels more comfortable if before falling asleep, especially at night, a certain sequence of actions is performed - the ritual of falling asleep. As a rule, this is bathing, a soothing massage before bedtime, feeding, motion sickness, or mother's lullaby. Repeating day after day, this sequence sets the child up for falling asleep and for sound sleep.

The ritual of the morning awakening of the baby should always take place in a joyful and calm atmosphere - this is the key to his good mood during the day. Smile at the baby, gently hug and kiss him. If the baby woke up earlier than usual, but at the same time lies quietly, do not rush to immediately take him out of the crib, take him in your arms: after turning around a little, he will most likely fall asleep again.

Hygiene procedures

From the very first days after birth, already in the maternity hospital, each newborn is given a morning toilet. Washing your face in the morning signals the start of a new day. During periods of wakefulness, as a rule, before feeding, newborns undergo hygiene procedures such as changing a diaper, washing.

In children from the age of 6 months, hygiene skills are added - washing hands after returning from a walk, as well as before each meal and after it (during the introduction of complementary foods), wiping the mouth, putting on a bib, and so on.

Evening bathing means the end of the day and getting ready for bed. To help establish such a calming ritual, children's cosmetics with soothing fragrances can be used during evening bathing and massage.

All of the listed daily rituals performed at the same time will help the baby get used to the regimen more easily and will teach you to recognize different times of the day. Therefore, their significance, obligatoriness and systematicity are very important.

daily walks

During the organization of the correct daily routine for a child of the first year of life, one should not forget about daily walks, which should be carried out at least twice a day, and their total duration should be at least 3-4 hours. With children up to 6 months it is convenient to walk during their sleep. Starting from the age of 6 months, it is preferable to go for a walk while awake, so babies learn with great enthusiasm the world. When the baby begins to walk, walks should be quite active. You should not force the baby to sit in the stroller, let him walk, run, play for some time.

Preventive massage

A growing baby during the day during periods of wakefulness must definitely allocate time for a preventive massage. For massage, the time is suitable during the day or in the evening, when the baby feels better, does not want to sleep or eat. The duration of the massage should be from 5 to 10 minutes, so as not to cause fatigue and anxiety in the crumbs. During the massage, monitor the reaction of the child, as this procedure should bring only positive emotions. If the baby is naughty or hungry, transfer the massage to another convenient time so as not to form negative reactions to these useful procedures.

The psychology of the regime

If your family has a tradition of living by a schedule or sticking to a certain daily routine, then your baby will behave the same way over time.

However, in the first months, the regimen should be determined precisely by the biological rhythm of the child, and this requires care, sensitivity and patience on the part of mom and dad. First, parents adjust to the baby's regimen, and starting from 3-6 months of age, the child gradually gets used to the traditions and routine of the family (eating, walking, etc.). At the same time, it is precisely “graduality” that has great value. Forcing a child to a regime that is beneficial to parents is very dangerous, since not only digestive disorders can occur if, for example, the child receives insufficient nutrition (mother maintains even elongated intervals between meals), but can also injure and nervous system baby.

Stick to the daily routine should be on weekends, and holidays so as not to confuse the child.

Baby confused day and night

Babies, not only in the first weeks after birth, but also during the first year, often confuse day and night. This means that in the usual evening time the child continues to actively behave, call out, walk or sing songs, crawl on the crib, reach for toys, which does not please parents who have already tuned in to rest. And, of course, the first impulse of the mother will be to take the baby in her arms and start rocking. But even such measures do not always lead to the desired effect.

Very often, such periods occur when the need for daytime sleep decreases, that is, when the child moves, for example, from three to two times a day, as well as when the baby is overexcited, non-compliance with the daily regimen, longer daytime sleep (more than 3-4 hours), etc. Of course, sooner or later the baby will fall asleep, but in order for this situation not to repeat itself every evening, the next day you need to pay attention to the child’s sleep during the day.

If during the day your baby is fast asleep and sleeps for more than 2-3 hours, especially if there are less than 3-4 hours before the expected night's sleep, then do not be afraid to wake him up. This must be done carefully so as not to cause a negative reaction from the crumbs. You can take the child in your arms, stroke him on the back, legs, arms, talk to him in a gentle voice, turn on soft music.

After such artificial awakenings, the baby can very actively express his displeasure, being capricious. Prepare a bottle or breastfeed your baby, get him interested in something interesting like a toy, or just take him around the house showing him different rooms and objects.

During daytime sleep, do not isolate the child from household noise, do not curtain the windows from daylight, it is enough to limit the amount of sunlight on the crib so that the baby is aware that it is daytime.

If the baby has begun to increase the intervals between daytime sleep, try to skip one bedtime. But at the same time, remember that you need to be ready to organize an earlier night's sleep.

During the day, try to keep your baby busy with active games, songs, dances and, of course, walks in the fresh air. But before a night's sleep, all active games and exercises must be stopped, otherwise the child will get overexcited and will not be able to sleep.

Make the last feeding before bedtime as satisfying as possible. If the baby falls asleep with the breast, then give the opportunity to suck it exactly as much as he needs.

Try not to leave a bright light in the room where the baby sleeps at night, if you still need light at night, then it is better to use a subdued nightlight. Otherwise, the baby may think that a new day has come and it's time to play again.

There is also another very effective way help the child fall asleep - joint sleep, mother's warmth and even breathing. Proximity to the mother's breast will help the baby calm down and fall asleep on time.

Daily routine while traveling

Traveling with a child can have an impact not only on the physical, but also on the psychological health of the baby, since moving involves visiting crowded places, climate change, familiar and comfortable surroundings, and often with the nature of food. Therefore, to create a calm atmosphere while traveling, as well as psychological comfort, try to adhere to the rhythm of life and daily routine that is familiar to the child.

If the trip is to be with a change of time zone, then in the first days, try to stick to your home schedule. After a few days, the baby will gradually begin to adapt to the changed daylight hours.

Take with you toys, books and other things that the child associates with home. They will allow you to observe the rituals of falling asleep, morning awakening, daytime games that have become familiar, no matter where you are - in another country or with your grandmother in the village.

In the first few evenings, give the baby a little more time before the evening ritual of falling asleep - this will help to calm down after the emotions and impressions received and feel more comfortable in the changed environment.

Be prepared for things to be hectic, so you may need to arrange for a few days of co-sleeping to make your child feel psychologically comfortable.

Upon returning home, you will return to a strict regimen again. Do not be afraid that you will have to start learning again, because the baby has already formed the necessary skills, and if at first he gets a little out of rhythm, he will quickly return to the right habits.

magazine for parents "Raising a Child", April 2014

The first month of a child's life is the most important. During this period, the child adapts to life in new conditions, learns to breathe, eat, feel separate from his mother. That is why it is important to create optimal conditions for the newborn in order to facilitate the difficult period of adaptation. Equally important is the correct organization of the child's day regimen in 1 month of life, nutrition, bathing, walking. A properly organized daily routine of a newborn child in the first month of life affects his well-being and further development. With a well-established mode, the child behaves calmly, is active and pleases with a good mood. He is not naughty, he gets enough sleep, he is happy to contact his parents. Young mothers, in turn, are not nervous because of the “loss in time and space”, but enjoy the joy of motherhood.

Approximate daily routine for 1 month

The main tasks of the baby in the first month are to sleep, eat, establish contact with parents through cooing and first smiles ( See articles about when a baby starts and when does it start). The established daily routine will allow the newborn to know in advance what awaits him and prepare for it. In addition, a baby who lives according to a certain regimen of the day and nutrition gets used to biological rhythms faster and does not confuse daytime and nighttime.

The observations of psychologists show that children whose daily routine was observed according to all the rules grow up more disciplined, collected and self-confident.

Let us dwell in more detail on the main points of the child's day regimen in the first month.

Dream

In the first 2 weeks of life breast baby sleeps almost all the time about 18-20 hours a day), waking up only to eat. At 3-4 weeks, the period when the baby does not sleep becomes longer. During wakefulness, the child not only eats, but also begins to learn about the world around him: for a long time he examines bright, large, attention-grabbing objects, reacts to his mother's voice, and listens to the surrounding sounds.

Food

A few years ago, young mothers heeded the advice of doctors who recommended feeding the newborn strictly according to the schedule. With this approach, feeding is carried out every 3 hours. Some experts still adhere to this rule.

However the best option Feeding the baby on demand is considered. This is especially true for the first months of a baby's life, when nutrition is his main need.

According to statistics, most newborns need 6-8 feedings per day. But it is worth noting that the amount of milk intake (whether breast milk or artificial milk formula) depends on individual needs, as well as the volume consumed at a time. Normally, babies in 1 month after birth should drink from 50 to 90 ml of milk. or infant formula. Many mothers follow this rule in feeding: offer a breast or a bottle until the baby is full.

It should be borne in mind that a newborn who is on artificial feeding may consume less milk than breastfed infants. This is due to the saturation of milk mixtures with various fatty acids and trace elements. Thus, a small amount of the mixture is enough for "artists" to satisfy the feeling of hunger. Accordingly, the intervals between feedings should be somewhat longer so that the child's gastrointestinal tract has time to digest and assimilate the milk mixture.

An important point when organizing a diet is to prevent overfeeding.. Since in similar cases digestive problems, colic, frequent regurgitation, constipation.

Bathing

At 1 month of his life, the baby gets acquainted with another important procedure - bathing. Bathing regime should also be organized, starting from the first days of life. It is better to bathe the child in the evening - just before feeding and going to bed..

A newborn should be bathed in a bath reserved for this purpose only. Moms should definitely monitor the temperature of the bathing water ( optimal temperature counts 36-37 degrees). To do this, you can use a special thermometer. After some time, parents will learn to determine the temperature of the water for bathing a baby according to their own feelings.

walks

Walking for a baby of the first month plays an important role. Firstly, it is useful for a newborn to breathe fresh air. Secondly, in the spring-summer period, doctors advise briefly exposing the child's face to the sun's rays, which contributes to the production of vitamin D in the body and prevents ( on hot days, expose the child to direct sunlight to avoid burns!). Thirdly, children sleep better in the fresh air.

However, you should follow some rules before you go for a walk with your baby:

  • According to the advice of children's doctors, you can start walking when the baby is 10 days old (this applies to healthy children born on time);
  • Walking time in winter time is about 10 minutes (air temperature should not be lower than -10 degrees), in summer - 20 minutes (air temperature - no more than 25-30 degrees).

Massage and gymnastics

In those moments when the newborn is awake, mommy needs to find time for massage and gymnastics.

Massage should be understood as gentle and gentle stroking on the back, arms and legs of the child, as well as clockwise circular movements in the abdomen (for the prevention of colic and constipation).

The gymnastics of a newborn consists in performing the simplest movements: gentle bending of the legs and arms. You can also insert thumb hands in the palm of the baby and after he grabs, gently lift. Newborns, as a rule, love this exercise very much and begin to “pull up” themselves.

Moms need to know massage and gymnastics Preferably 30 minutes before feeding. Before a night's sleep, it is not recommended to perform exercises and massage.

Communication with the baby

Moms must necessarily include in the daily routine month old baby communication and games with him. Do not think that a baby at this age does not need it. For him, this is as important as food and sleep. It is at this time that the child, according to psychologists, forms a basic trust in the world.

The more affectionate a mother is with her baby, the more attention and care she gives him, the more confident and harmonious the baby will develop.

Communication and games with the baby should take place in a calm environment, when he is full and awake. Mom can talk affectionately with the baby, read nursery rhymes and nursery rhymes to him, sing songs. Suitable for games. Let the baby learn to hold them, and the mother should praise and support him.

Tips for parents on setting a daily routine

  1. If the baby can oversleep until lunch, and at night “set the heat” - this is the first signal that the daily routine needs to be changed. It is not necessary, of course, to deliberately wake the child in the morning or put him to bed when he does not want to. But you can still adjust the sleep mode a little. And The best way- walks. Everyone knows that babies sleep very well during a walk. Therefore, feel free to go for a walk at the time at which, in your opinion, the newborn should sleep. Gradually, this will help you establish a sleep pattern for the child, especially during the day.
  2. To make it clear to the baby about the onset of morning, after waking up, you can gently wipe his face with a cotton pad soaked in warm water. Other hygiene procedures (cleaning the nose and ears, lubricating diaper rash with baby cream), regularly repeated at the same time, will also notify the baby of the beginning of a new day.
  3. To avoid nighttime wakefulness, try not to turn on bright lights for night feeding. Limit yourself to dimmed nightlight. Speak in a quiet tone. After feeding, gently rock your baby to sleep.
  4. In the evening, turn off the overhead light, turn on the lamp. This will orient the baby that bedtime is approaching. Musical carousels () are also suitable for this purpose. The child will quickly learn the relationship between this "change of scenery" and sleep.
  5. If the baby does not want to fall asleep, try putting him in the crib and turning on a quiet, calm melody. The child will listen to the sounds of nature, under which he can quickly fall asleep. Mom can also sit next to the crib and sing lullabies to the newborn. Such actions, systematically performed every day, after a while will achieve the desired effect: the baby will fall asleep faster and in a timely manner.

During the first month of life, it is not easy for a newborn to get used to a new routine. But parents still need to gradually accustom the child to a certain daily routine. It will take quite a bit of time - and the child will wake up and fall asleep strictly at a certain time. This will benefit him, as he will anticipate what will happen next and react accordingly. Parents will be able to rationally allocate their own time.

Video: Baby 1 month old

Your baby has just been born, and you are ready to devote yourself to him without a trace. Moreover, many friends and reputable pediatricians actively advise feeding the baby at the first call, sleeping with him in the same bed and not leaving him for a second. Today it seems to you that this is exactly what you need. However, after a few weeks, you will notice how the apartment is slowly overgrown with a layer of dust, cooking becomes a real problem, and your beloved spouse is gradually moving away from you, although, of course, he pays a lot of attention to you and the baby.

What's happening? Violation of the normal rhythm of life that your family is used to. And this is the wrong development of events, since at some point you will feel like a lonely, driven horse, which has no strength either for the attention of your spouse, or for the love and affection of your own child. To prevent this, the correct regimen of the day of the newborn for 1 month will help you.

Why do you need a daily routine

The concept of "daily routine" implies the consistent execution of certain actions depending on the time of day. By following it, you will be able to:

  • plan your day- clearly understand what time you can go, and when you have an hour to cook dinner;
  • raise healthy baby - breast-feeding according to the regimen reduces the risk of development in newborns, allergic reactions and overweight. Attachment to the breast according to the “first peep” saturates the baby with milk in such an amount with which it digestive system unable to cope. The first symptom of overfeeding is the very red cheeks that most young mothers complain about;
  • maintain love and tender relationship with her husband- the appearance of the baby should not alienate, but unite two loving people. Therefore, do not forget to devote time to your spouse, despite the fact that in the early days he may be very missed. In addition, only in a happy and harmonious family can a happy and self-confident child grow up.

What does baby day look like?

The baby of the first month of life should:

  • sleep - at least 4 times a day. Usually the baby falls asleep after feeding and rests for 1.5-2 hours. Night sleep should be longer - up to 6 hours;
  • eat - at least 6 times a day with an interval of 3-3.5 hours and a night break up to 6 hours;
  • walk - preferably at least 2 times a day.

In this way, exemplary mode The day of the baby by the hour may look like this.

06.00 First feeding, sleep.
09.00 Rise, hygiene procedures. Wash your child every morning. To do this, use cotton pads or swabs soaked in warm boiled water. Wipe the baby's eyes, cheeks, mouth, look into. If boogers are visible there, drop a couple of drops of saline or Solina with a pipette, wait a minute and remove them with cotton swabs.
09.30 The second feeding, during which the baby may fall asleep, or may remain awake.
10.00 Mom's breakfast and packing for a walk.
10.30 Walk in a closed carriage in the fresh air. In the early days, you should not go far from home, and the time spent on the street should be no more than 15 minutes in summer at an air temperature of no higher than + 30 ° C, and 10 minutes in winter at a temperature not lower than -3 ° C. Daily increase the duration of walks, gradually bringing them up to 1.5-2 hours a day. In the stroller, the baby is likely to doze off, and the fresh air will awaken a healthy appetite.
13.00 Lunch or third feeding. Then sleep, when mom can take care of herself or household chores.
16.30 Fourth feeding, walk or free time.
20.00 Fifth feeding and communication with the family.

23.30 Sixth feeding and night sleep.

Does it bother you that the daily routine baby up to a month includes such a late bath, because you remember that in childhood you went to bed no later than 21.00? Do not worry, when the baby grows up, his sleep will begin at about 9 pm. But now you should be worried about something else. If you put the baby to bed so early, at about 2 am he will ask for food, then decide to take a walk. As a result, neither you nor dad will rest at night, and the next day you will feel tired. If you go to rest all together, it is very likely that the bathed and full peanut will sleep quietly until 6 in the morning. And by the hour of the first feeding, he will see not gloomy, sleepy parents, but their loving and rested faces.

How to adjust the daily routine of the baby? This will require a little self-discipline and a desire to organize the life of the family correctly.

  1. Always get up at the same time. Even if the baby “walked” at night, wake him up and wash him.
  2. Follow the daily routine of the newborn clearly by the clock. Walk, eat, swim exactly when you decide. You will be surprised how quickly the baby will accept these rules and follow them.
  3. Stop feeding on demand. If the child ate an hour ago, but seems to be hungry again, offer him a bottle of. Perhaps he wants not to eat, but to drink.
  4. Attach to the regime affectionately. Don't be nervous if things don't go according to plan in the early days. Adaptation may take 1 to 2 weeks.
  5. Create "hint rituals". Not only bathing, but also a musical carousel above the crib with a gentle melody can become a signal for a quick night's sleep for a baby.

Now you know why you need a baby day routine. And we hope that you will not have any difficulties with its organization.

The first year of a child's life is the most important period, because it is at this moment that certain habits are laid. It is very important to observe the daily routine of a child up to a year. The correct daily routine provides all the necessary needs of the child's body. The daily routine of a child up to a year, what should it be?

The daily regimen, depending on the age of the child, is an alternation of the number of feedings, the duration of sleep and wakefulness of the baby. The only thing that remains unchanged is morning hygiene procedures and evening bathing. It is these two procedures that help the baby to distinguish day from night. As a rule, most babies do not immediately like to bathe, and in protest they scream loudly and blush from head to toe. However, soon the baby will understand that washing and bathing is an integral part of his life. Carrying out morning and evening procedures is best done at the same time, since this is the foundation on which the daily routine of a child up to a year is built. The repetition of actions calms the baby, gives him confidence, makes the world understandable and safe. Remember, if the child's daily routine is not organized in the first months of his life, then the child, as a rule, will be capricious, irritable, undisciplined.

The daily routine of the baby is compiled based on the number of feedings per day. The daily routine of a child during the first year of life is constantly changing. During the first two months, the newborn sleeps most of the day. The daily duration of a newborn's sleep reaches 20 hours. In the first month, you should not adhere to any particular regime, let the baby sleep as much as he wants. During the night feeding, talk to him in a whisper, thereby you will let him know that he needs to sleep. By about three months, the baby is more awake than sleeping. It must be remembered that each child is individual, so do not panic if your baby is a month behind in this matter or, conversely, ahead. All this is within the norm!

The daily routine of a child aged 1 to 3 months.
Feeding is the highlight of a child's daily routine. At the age of 1 to 3 months, the child begins to develop a daily routine. The daily duration of sleep during this period is 17-18 hours, of which 11 hours are for night sleep, and the remaining time is for 4 daytime sleep. Each daytime sleep should last an average of 1.5-2 hours. If the baby is healthy, it is necessary to feed him seven times a day (6 - daytime feedings, 1 - nighttime), every 3 hours. It is important to observe the time interval between individual feedings. The first changes in the daily routine of the child are made at the age of 5 months. The number of feedings is reduced to five times a day. At the same time, the time of active wakefulness of the baby increases and the amount of daytime sleep decreases. Approximately nine months old healthy child stays awake for about three hours, and the amount of daytime sleep is reduced to two times.

The daily routine of a child aged 3 to 6 months.
At the age of 3 to 6 months, the child sleeps an average of 16-17 hours a day, the duration of a night's sleep is 10 hours. The break between feedings must be increased to 3.5 hours, thereby transferring the child to six meals a day (5 daytime feedings and 1 nightly). During this period, the duration of a night's sleep of a child without feeding is 6-8 hours. The daytime routine remains unchanged. At the age of 5-6 months, the child must be taught to eat from a spoon. Since the ability to eat from a spoon is not given immediately, therefore, it requires great effort and patience of parents. However, it is not worth pulling with these, because when sucking, the tongue is pressed against the palate, and for eating from a spoon, the tongue should not be raised up. In the future, the child may become so accustomed to sucking that he will begin to refuse a variety of food, which is so necessary for the proper growth and development of the baby. But it is also impossible to feed a child “by force”, otherwise he may develop a fear of food or an aversion to it.

The daily routine of a child aged 6 to 9 months.
At the age of 6 to 9 months, the child is transferred to three daily naps, the duration of each of which is 1.5-2 hours. The time of wakefulness of the baby increases to 2.5 hours. The number of feedings of the child is reduced to 5 times, and the interval between them increases to 4 hours. In addition, night feeding must be replaced with late evening feeding, since a baby can easily sleep for 8 hours without food.

The daily routine of a child aged 9 months to 1 year.
At the age of 9-12 months, the child should sleep only 2 times a day, but the duration of daytime sleep increases to 2.5 hours. The period of active wakefulness averages up to 3.5 hours. The number of feedings and the interval between them remains the same.

During the first year of life, children sleep a lot, so it is best to put the child to sleep in the fresh air at least once a day. In addition, mandatory daily walks in the fresh air 2 times a day for 1.5-2 hours, best of all at the same time. But here you also need to focus on the weather.

Any daily routine is designed to help not only the baby, but also adults. A sensitive mother, who carefully observes the behavior of her crumbs, will always be able to catch the mood of the child and support him. Already under the rhythms of the child, parents adjust their daily worries. Only in this case, caring for a child of the first year of life will bring you only joy.
