September 24, 2016 in the Hermitage Garden in Moscow there will be a festival Greek culture"Acropolis".

Journey through new country always brings strong emotions, new experiences, gastronomic discoveries, unexpected observations and long-lasting memories.
This will be the Acropolis festival - a real acquaintance with Greece, which for the second year in a row gives Muscovites Moscow Society Grekov and the Regional Public Youth Greek Organization "Argo" with the support of the Moscow Government. Speaking about this country, we, first of all, remember the ancient myths, Olympic Games, theatrical mysteries and delicious olives. The program of the festival is based on these key associations.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin gave the residents of the capital this opportunity. From 22 to 23 September the 4th annual festival Greek culture "Acropolis". For 2 whole days, the audience is delighted with the sounds of Sirtaki, colorful costumes and photographs of the most amazing places in Greece. The leader of the Saturday fun in the Greek spirit was the president of the festival Janis Palita.

The main place of the meeting was the stage, where the best Greek hits were performed. Participant of the project “Voice. Children - 2 ”Adelina Gurdjieva demonstrated to everyone her unique vocals and the ability to“ ignite ”the audience. The spirit of jubilation, positivity and universal unity was simply in the air!

Spirit of the Greek people

For those who dreamed of delving into the history of Greece, the Hermitage documentary Mora. The film tells about the capture of Constantinople by the Ottoman army and the consequences of this tragic event. In 1467, 5,000 Greek families were resettled from Sinop and Trebizond to Constantinople and its environs so that the capital would not be empty after the physical destruction of thousands of Greeks who resisted the capture of the capital. Subsequently, the migration of the Greeks took place in reverse side: from different regions of the Peloponnese and Arcadia to Trebizond and its environs. In the depths of Asia Minor, near ancient city Icons, yes small town Sella. There are up to 1800 houses in it, of which 800 belonged to Orthodox Greeks, immigrants from the Morea of ​​the Peloponnese, whose ancestors were forcibly relocated by order of the Sultan from the Peloponnese. In Anatolia, there turned out to be a large number of Christians from the Aegean islands, from More-Peloponnese, from Athens and Thessaloniki, and from other places of non-Turkic origin. For the development of Anatolia, the Ottomans tried to populate it with healthy, active people. Ottoman Empire did everything possible to assimilate the peoples in the occupied lands and achieve the predominance of Muslim traditions, which they largely succeeded in.

Director Demis Vasiliev made an attempt to tell about some details of what was happening in that distant era. The picture keeps in suspense until the last slide.

Greece in the art of the artist

Corner "Lectorium" provided an opportunity for everyone to learn a lot about the psychology and history of Greece. The decoration of the festival was the paintings of the Greek artist Nina Ioannidi. Paintings on cement canvas, made with soul. It was felt from the very first glance thrown at the canvas. The images of mythical characters, made up of delightful symbols of the past, represented her own feelings and understanding of the Harmony of the ancient cosmos. Harmony of color and harmony of form is what the author strives for in his work. The plasticity of the poses of the translucent statues and the combination of warm yellow and cold blue create a balance, a subtle aesthetic proportion. Sky blue and yellow turning into gold, according to the author's intention, continue the theme of the Olympic aesthetics of sunny Hellas.

In front of the tents with delicious Greek food lined up. Almost all the guests of the festival expressed their desire to enjoy Greek cuisine. The host's phrase that the Greeks consider olive oil to be a real tasty and healthy seasoning has become a great advertisement! Everyone immediately "rushed" to make sure of this, and did not regret it!

Love and Grace

The children's quest deserves special attention. The younger generation, together with the goddess Nika, solved riddles Ancient Greece. The key to every clue was hidden in the fiery speech of the great orators of that era. Each rhetorical exclamation demonstrated charisma, literary impulse, the desire to convey their emotions to the public, and, of course, humor, so that the quest would be remembered by children as an educational and fun entertainment.

Without them, the event would have lost its flavor. The Association of Women "Agapi" took part in the preparation of the festival of Greek culture. This women's association strives to preserve traditional family values, to revive Greek traditional crafts and activities, is engaged in charity work.

The Akropolis Greek Culture Festival has been held in Moscow, in the Hermitage Garden since 2015. The organizers of the event are the Moscow Society of Greeks, the Government of Moscow, the Regional Public Youth Greek Organization "ARGO".

The debut of Akropolis took place on September 27, 2015 and was timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Moscow Society of Greeks.

In 2016 the festival was a great success. About 20 thousand people visited the numerous venues of the holiday: the main concert stage, a small theater venue, kiosks with culinary and folk crafts, art gallery"Vernissage", Greek taverns, a fair of Greek products, various Greek master classes, a grandiose photo exhibition, which became the result of a long competition for best photo dedicated to Greece.

On celebratory event in Moscow were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to Russia Andreas Friganas, Chairman of the Moscow Society of Greeks Archimedes Shakhbazov, representatives of the Moscow city administration, cultural and art figures, representatives of the national communities of Moscow.
On main stage a concert was held with the participation of Russian and Greek pop stars. The guests of the festival applauded the brilliant performances of the Honored Artists of Russia Ksenia Georgiadi and Euclid Kurdzidis, the rock singer Alisa Dimitriadi, the opera diva Sia Mikhailidi, the famous jazz performer Nadezhda Rafailidi, the master of ethnic Greek songs Yiannis Kofopoulos and his brilliant team, the charming Ariadne Prokopidou, the folklore ensemble " Anagennisi” (“Renaissance”), theater and film actor Yiannis Karayiannidis and others. The special guest of the festival of Greek culture was the singer Medea Khursulidou, who arrived from Athens.

On the second small theater stage held various children's competitions. The festival has become another opportunity for meetings, heart-to-heart talks between compatriots and philhellenes. So many positive emotions, positive, which are so lacking in everyday life!
