He played in restaurants, having studied jazz classics and modern songs. He wrote his first music for the Puppet Theater of the Latvian SSR and the Drama Theater of the Latvian SSR. A. In 1999, he was nominated for the post of President of Latvia, but withdrew his candidacy.

Raymond Pauls collaborated a lot with Soviet and Russian pop artists, as well as poets, wrote music for several Soviet films. Many of the artists owe the composer their popularity and immortal hits. At the same time, Pauls' entourage has always noted the complex nature and isolation of Raymond Voldemarovich.

Ilya Reznik has been a partner of Raimonds Pauls for many years. The creative duet "Pauls-Reznik" owns the most famous hits of Alla Pugacheva, Valery Leontiev, Laima Vaikule, Irina Ponarovskaya, Tamara Gverdtsiteli, Masha Rasputina and others.

Cooperation between Raymond Pauls and Ilya Reznik began in 1980.

Alla Pugacheva and Raymond Pauls - Maestro

Over the 5 years of the existence of the Pauls-Reznik-Pugacheva tandem, only 10 songs were created, but all of them are so famous that today Alla Pugacheva is often associated with these songs. In addition to Ilya Reznik, other poets also wrote poems to Pauls' melodies. Andrey Voznesensky is among them. The poet wrote poems for the Latvian song of Pauls - "Dāvāja Māriņa". Thus was born the song "A Million Scarlet Roses", the most famous song of Alla Pugacheva.

During creative cooperation Pauls and Pugacheva, many believed that they had an affair. The song "Maestro", written by Raymond Pauls and Ilya Reznik, is actually dedicated to Konstantin Orbelyan, with whom Alla Pugacheva was rumored to have an affair at the beginning of her career. But the whole Soviet Union took the song differently and addressed Pugacheva's appeal to Pauls. In fact, there was no romance, as Pauls himself and Reznik say. In 1985, the cooperation between Pugacheva and Pauls gradually came to an end. The last song of the tandem was "Cause Time". In the late 1980s, there was a place for the resumption of cooperation between Raymond Pauls, Ilya Reznik and Alla Pugacheva. Several songs were written, but they no longer became all-Union hits.

The beginning of the 1970s can be marked by the creation by Pauls of the Modo vocal and instrumental ensemble, which took part in the German festival "People and the Sea" in 1974. The following year the "Modo" Ensemble took part in the Bulgarian festival in Sopot. At the end of the 1970s, Pauls left the Modo team to devote himself entirely to work in the Latvian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company. 1. Born on January 12, 1936 in Riga in the family of a glass blower Voldemar Pauls son Oyars Raimonds , was determined - at the request of his father - in a unique Riga musical kindergarten from the age of 3. But until the age of 10, he was very reluctant to study music, so his father often drove Raymond to the piano with a belt.

Over time, Raymond began to study music with passion, and in 1953 he was already a student at the Latvian Conservatory. Professor Herman Brown instilled in him a love for the classics, and young Raymond dreamed of the stage, moonlighting in orchestras.

After graduating, Raymond, as part of the Riga Variety Orchestra, traveled all over the USSR. In 1962, after the birth of his daughter, Pauls returned to the conservatory to study composition. In 1964, he led the Riga Variety Orchestra, having won all-Union popularity with him.

2. Today, Raimonds Pauls, who at the age of 49 became a People's Artist of the USSR, is not only a music guru in Latvia, but also a restaurateur, one of the wealthiest residents of Riga, although he once suffered from Latvian banks. And in the 1970s and 80s, every restaurant where Pauls' songs were performed paid a lot of money to the composer.

Pauls says about this time: - I lived very well! You come to Sberbank, and there are already several thousand. And at one time I went around even David Tukhmanov in terms of income ...

3. Pauls has a big house outside the city, which he himself calls "magnificent." And having bought
a few years ago, a village school a hundred kilometers from Riga, along with three hectares of land, Pauls made a center for gifted children there.

One of the oligarchs bought in the center of Riga old house, and invited the maestro to head the cultural and entertainment center.

4. Outwardly imperturbable, Pauls often took part in the pranks of the bohemian party under the leadership of Pugacheva.

The composer recalls that Mark Zakharov, patient in this regard, became the object of such jokes several times. Often such parties ended in loud quarrels, as Pugacheva allowed herself too much.

Having drunk, I could say too much. Then she regretted. She was ashamed, she began to suck up. But I accepted Alla for who she is.

5. Although the daughter of Pauls Anete grew up among the celebrities who visited their house, the maestro forbade her to sing on the stage.

After graduating from school, Anete worked for a television center, becoming a director. And in 1988, together with Yuri Nikolaev, she hosted a pop song contest in Jurmala, where Alexander Malinin then received the Grand Prix.
Anete married a Dane, an employee of the SAS airline. For the past few years, she has been in Moscow as an assistant to the Consul General of Latvia for cultural issues. Two granddaughters of Pauls studied at an elite Moscow school with in-depth study of English and French.

6. Having been both the Minister of Culture of Latvia (the first non-partisan minister in the USSR) and the adviser to the President of Latvia on culture, Raimonds Pauls, contrary to his words about the due political apathy of a musician and artist in general, in 1999 ran for the presidency from the New Party of Latvia headed by him . Having won in the first round of elections, but not gaining the required 51% in the Sejm, he withdrew his candidacy before the decisive round.

Later, he explained this by saying that he would have to be between two fires, since the right-wing advocated an aggravation of relations with Russia, and Russians in Latvia have strong economic positions. Childhood, family

The hometown of Raimonds Pauls is Riga. The boy was born into a family of real workers: his father worked as a glass blower, and his mother worked as a pearl embroiderer. But after the birth of her son, the woman quit her job, deciding to devote herself entirely to her son and his upbringing. The boy's musical education was not accidental. My father was friendly with music, as he played percussion instruments in an orchestra of amateur musicians. That is why Raymond already definitely knew that he was destined for a biography of the musician.

As a child, the boy went to kindergarten, where he was taught to play any instrument, for Raymond it was the piano. According to some sources, Raymond's father became interested in reading a book about the great Paganini, so he, having bought a violin, gave it to music class. During the Great Patriotic War father sent the family to a small village, music had to be left for a while. After the war and Great Victory, all reunited in the beloved city.

When the boy was ten years old, he entered a music school in Riga. Then he continued his education at the Latvian Conservatory, studied piano, and then studied there as a composer. Raymond studied and worked as a performer in variety orchestras at many concerts and evenings. The young pianist liked to perform jazz and modern song compositions.
