Space is an incredibly rich topic for creativity. Each artist can find his own plot and create his own "cosmic" picture: a boundless universe with distant stars and planets, an extraordinary cosmic landscape or a flying rocket, a scientific satellite. For work it is better to use paints, the drawings are more interesting and bright.

To remember how to draw space with paints, a few simple rules will help:

1. plot and composition. It is important to think in advance what will be depicted in the picture: an unknown universe, mysterious stars, alien planets, bright comets, spaceships. You should also decide on the location of the main objects. You can use ready-made photographs or pictures, put them side by side and draw.
2. Materials. The paper should be thick, it is better to use watercolor. Paints can be taken any, but it is necessary to take into account their features. Oil - bright, persistent in color, but dry for a long time. Acrylic - become glossy after drying, but dry quickly. Gouache is easy to use, but the colors tend to fade after drying, so it is advisable to revive them with bright outlines, wax and other things. Watercolor - requires preliminary wetting of the sheet with water, the tones are soft, translucent. Brushes need to be selected in accordance with paints, of different sizes, from large for the background to small for drawing the smallest stars or the relief of planets. Materials must be prepared in advance so as not to break away in the process of work.
3. Sketch. It is better for a novice artist to first make a sketch with a simple pencil, and then move on to paints. You do not need to draw small details, it is enough to outline the location of the main objects, their shape, number.
4. Painting. As a rule, the background is drawn first. Do not use black. The cosmic palette is much richer. Violet, blue and their dark, deep shades will do. When the background dries, you can move on to the main objects. When working with oil, it is not necessary to wait for complete drying. Do not make clear boundaries and contours. It is better to alternate sharp and blurry details, giving preference to the latter. Planets should be lighter than the background by several tones, comets and stars should be bright, you can use shades of red and yellow. At the end, add details, light spots, flashes, glare. To do this, you need paints of bright and light colors, primarily shades of yellow and white. For showiness, you can use paints with mother-of-pearl or sparkles, gold and silver contours.

It is more convenient and easier for a novice artist to draw in stages. For the first pictures, it is better to choose simple plots. It is worth practicing in drawing individual objects. If they succeed, then you can move on to full-fledged paintings.

Comet

The comet is a decoration of the picture, a bright accent. The drawing begins with a sketch. It is necessary to depict the comet schematically: the head is a circle, the tail is a straight line.

Draw the head of the comet, mark the beginning of the tail with a bright flash.

Add the middle part of the tail. Show flames.

Finish the tail.

A comet can have a straight tail or a curved one.

Brightly and clearly depict the head of a comet. For this, white, light yellow and light blue colors are used. The tail is drawn more blurry. The further away from the head, the more diffuse and transparent the tail fan will be.

Rocket

The picture can show spaceship, terrestrial or alien, satellite or large station.

It is enough to apply imagination to create a more complex ship based on a simple children's rocket.

Planet

You can draw your native Earth, Saturn or Jupiter, or turn to unknown planets. Turning to paints, one should remember about chiaroscuro. One side of the planet should be lighter.

Stars

The main objects of the cosmic picture are the stars. They can be small dots scattered across a sheet of paper, large bright spots with divergent rays.

The distribution of stars should be uneven. Large clusters are accompanied by an image of haze, nebula.

In order to achieve this effect, you need to dip a sponge or a piece of cotton wool into the paint and lightly blot the finished drawing. You can also take a large brush or toothbrush, dip it into the paint and, by running your finger over the bristles, splatter the design. Large and small drops will settle on a sheet of paper, and you will get a starry sky.

Revive the drawing. Add along the contour of fire and one planet purple. Circle other planets in red and yellow. The lines should not be solid, but jerky.

Let the paints dry, close the objects with stencils.

The last step is the stars. Take a large brush or toothbrush, dip it in white gouache, diluted to a liquid state, and spray the paint by running your finger over the bristles.

To make the drawing unusual, space can be depicted in a circle. To do this, in the center of the drawing paper, draw a circle of the desired size according to a pre-prepared template. Then we wet the surface of the circle with water using a thick brush - this will allow you to get smooth stains watercolor paint. We paint the center of the circle with light shades: yellow, orange, lilac, blue.

Now on the palette we breed two shades of blue color: one mix with purple paint, the other with black. The resulting colors are applied to the drawing with small and random strokes. In this case, the brush should be washed after each shade. It is necessary to draw the image from the edges of the circle, gradually approaching the center of the illustration. Try not to apply dark colors over light colors, as it will be impossible to return the original version.

When the circle is completely painted over, you can start drawing the details of the cosmic landscape. In the center of the circle, where bright hues drawing, apply with a thin brush a watercolor of red and yellow.

It remains only to complete the picture with many bright stars. To do this, apply gouache to the toothbrush white color and, bending the edges of the bristles, spray paint on the image.

Step three. Now it will be easier to draw even circle. We combine the arcs so that everything turns out as clear as possible.
Step four. Now we sketch on our ball all the continents, oceans, islands and peninsulas. Anything that will fit and be noticeable.
