Locust group composition. The group "Locust" broke up

A few years ago, the work of the Stavropol group "Locust" was familiar to almost all the youth of the regional center. The musicians reached Moscow and performed quite successfully on the capital's stage. Talented guys were predicted loud glory and long creative life.

But quite unexpectedly, the Locust disappeared from view. As it turned out, the team broke up. Apparently forever...

"Locust" was founded in 2000. The guys recorded five albums. Their musical ideas, inspired by the energetic rhythms of Jamaica, positive lyrics and bright concerts in Stavropol, were enjoyed by many. And in 2005, the team once again set off to conquer the capital. And yet she achieved her goal - popularity came to them.

Today, almost all the Locust members live in Moscow and are still engaged in creative work. For example, a vocalist Dmitry Lantukh(or Dimoss) is working on his own project. Having found his Moscow coordinates, I decided to find out what really happened to the team.

- Dmitry, tell us about your "star" period. Who helped the team achieve such popularity?

- Having moved, we all huddled together in a one-room apartment in a district of Moscow remote from the center. They performed in clubs. From morning to night - rehearsals. They even signed a three-year contract with the Mystery of Sound company. She published the album "Native Collective Farm". And for the title song "Yellow Snow" they shot a video clip, which was played on the central music TV channels. There were also several of our tracks on the radio in hot rotation.

One of the first was a performance in the Palace of Culture. Gorbunova at the festival, dedicated to the day Bob Marley's birth. Professional reggae bands participated in it - for example, Markscheider Kunst, Karibasy, Horace Andy from Masseve Attack and others. Then we had time to travel around the country. For example, they were in Kazantip, played three concerts on the central dance floors of the Black Sea coast.

- And then in the winter the group broke up ... Why?

- Let's just say that the Locust project was simply closed. We have a feeling of creative unfulfillment. And we decided to try ourselves in other musical directions and groups. For example, Dima Fidel played bass for singer Maxim for two years. Now he has a new team called Degree 100. Viktor Golovanov is a first-class drummer in the Gorod 312 group. From time to time we communicate, sometimes we play together in some metropolitan club.

You also have your own project...

- It's called "DimoSS sound system", that is, "DimoSS sound system". This is a kind of union of musicians, DJing and performers. As for the style, this is dance hall (dance reggae and r&b elements), as well as hip hop, dub. The vocal style is melodic reggae rap. The project consists of three people: MC DimoSS (voice, lyrics, melodies, guitar, arrangement, synthesizers), rasta Karina (female vocals) and Dj Teo Ingener (electronic support and DJing). We perform a lot. Were already in Rostov-on-Don, Magnitogorsk, Saratov, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, Tolyatti, Nizhny Novgorod. And last summer we went to the festival in the All-Russian children's camp "Eaglet". It was very interesting, we then wrote a song about "Eaglet" and shot a video with the participation of children.

But it's not your only creative project?

- Together with Mikhail Grebenshchikov, a production center was created, at the studio of which we "write" our own and other people's songs, dance remixes. In addition to music, I am engaged in the design of drawings on clothes, club decoration, collages, applications ... As a rule, exhibitions of my various “art” are accompanied by my own concert or set in nightclubs, galleries ... From the last art performance, I became interested in the so-called pumping household equipment. This is how the Sony boombox, pasted over with vinyl color film, repainted and turned into spaceship old telephone, refrigerator covered with a map of the world.

There is also a new passion - to write music for TV shows and movies. For example, I have musical accompaniment for the transfer of "Wedding of your dreams" on MuzTV and several programs on other channels. And recently starred in a small silent episode in the movie. As they say, I felt the magic of cinema. Why not master these horizons too?!

As soon as they appeared in the capital, the LOCKSHA group was engaged in almost every major music Festival and was invariably accepted by a diverse audience with a bang.

Judge for yourself: in just a few months, no one famous musicians from Stavropol managed to open with their set a large-scale celebration of Bob Marley's birthday in Gorbushka with the participation of Horace Andy from Masseve Attack, and also successfully performed at the Stub-rock festivals, Fun Funk Fest V .2.0 and at the birthday of the site www. reggae. ru. In addition, the LOCUST set became one of the highlights of the Anti-Format campaign held at the Expocentre. In May 2005, the group took part in the action "Always Great Russia"in Luzhniki, performing on the same platform with such musical groups as UMA2RMAN, DOLPHIN, CHECHERINA ..

On a monthly basis, the locust group gave concerts in the cozy RJ Club. Despite the show events in the capital, LOCUST continued to roam, giving concerts in various regions of our country. In the summer of 2005, "a flock of orthoptera" went on their SARANCHA SOUND SYSTEM bus straight to the Crimea to KAZANTIP, where they played already three concerts: two on the St. The group charged with positive emotions, fried in the bright summer sun, swam in salt water and continued their journey to the hero city of Stavropol, where they gave big concert in VICTORY PARK, gathering about 7,000 people.

"Locust" arose in the building of the former Stavropol merchant's mansion, not far from Lermontov's favorite Tiflis gates. On the very spot where balls were held in the 19th century, and a little later, to the delight of lovers of nightlife, a real brothel was launched.

In 2000, this dilapidated old building with glass ceilings became the venue for rehearsals for the newly formed Rasta-beat team with the exciting name of entomologists "Locust". For the next five years, the musicians lived under the scorching sun of Stavropol, giving concert after concert, one more incendiary than the other. Sometimes they looked in the direction of the station: from there in the evenings trains left for Moscow. One of them took the Locust to the capital, leaving the southern city with memories of the killer concerts of the audience's favorites, whose cult there is comparable, perhaps, only with the excitement around the Beatles in the homeland of the famous four in Liverpool. Even in Stavropol, in Gorbachev's homeland, there were television and radio broadcasts full of "Locusts", and records of reggae heroes instantly disappearing from music stores.

During the journeys and migrations around the country, the musicians got used to living in a commune. A lot of musicians constantly revolve around the backbone of the band, who take part in concerts and jams, bringing an element of creative chaos. Songs are often written right at sound checks before gigs and take shape during the first performance a couple of hours later. This becomes possible due to the fact that all participants feel each other perfectly.

... Only a few months of capital acclimatization passed, and ... in the spring of 2005, new characters of the festival scene appeared in Moscow. They played in semi-abandoned squats like "The Third Way" and sparkling with neon lights "Apelsin", in pretentious Luzhniki and cult "Point", the legendary Gorbushka and rocker "B2". Gradually they began to be recognized. And love.

By the summer of 2005, "Locust" had collected the luggage necessary for the campaign for success. The video for the song "Yellow Snow", which was filmed at the Institute of the Ministry of Atomic Energy of Russia, has been in rotation on MUZ-TV since the end of June.

The Locust materialized almost out of nowhere. Dimoss, who worked as an MC in a nightclub in February 2000, and several musicians he knew decided to implement their ideas, inspired by the rhythms of sunny Jamaica. By sheer coincidence, the decision to form the group was taken on the birthday of Bob Marley, who has since become their transcendental patron.

As the musical material was being composed, they began to think about the name of the new group. "Locust" came about as a result of a brainstorming session that lasted for several creatively sleepless nights, says Dimoss. “We really resemble a flock that constantly flies from place to place, besides, we have huge musical and music lovers appetites.”

Three months later, at a session for friends, the first five songs were made public, among which “Yellow Snow” sounded for the first time, which later became the hallmark of the group. After the musicians finished the set, the audience, completely stunned with delight, caught all the band members in the foyer and carried them back to the stage in their arms, demanding a repeat. I had to perform a small encore program.

A full-length action film could be made about the further movements of the musicians around the country. The St. Petersburg tour and the six-time assault on the Russian capital were ultimately successful. “The shell of Moscow, which we fought so many times,” says Dimoss, “constantly threw us back to our native collective farm. Now we feel that it has burst.”

Dimoss - voice (em C), acoustic guitar, synth, maracas. Despite the rather predatory attitude of representatives of the Orthoptera order to flora, the leader of the new musical formation received the opposite profession, graduating from the Faculty of Plant Protection of the Stavropol State Agrarian University. Practically does not eat meat solely because of the characteristics of his body. The author of texts and music, the ideologist of the group. In addition to music, he does artistic creativity, periodically arranges interesting exhibitions.
Ramon - space guitar, backing. He found himself in the group six months after its creation and, according to the flock, is responsible for “romanticism and cosmic moments”, using the most unimaginable guitar processors and gadgets.
Fidel - Bas-guitar, back. He stood at the origins of the group. Lover of beautiful life and holidays. Musical by nature, Fidel is the kind of person who doesn't tense up while being an exceptionally reliable person on stage and in life.
Balyk - guitar. played with everyone musical groups Stavropol. In addition to playing, he is well versed in old and unique guitars.
Evgeny Maidansky - synthesizers, accordion, backing. He got his stage name (more precisely, his surname) from the common expression "to pin on the Maidans" - to play in trains. Brought up on serious music, kind and even a little shy, he alone can "ignite" the holiday. He is a teacher of German by education.
Golovanov Vitek - drums, percussion, backing. By all accounts, a high-class professional - despite the fact that he is the youngest member of the group. He graduated from the Stavropol Regional College of Arts, successfully entered State University culture and arts. Even during his studies, he was engaged both in jazz bands and in groups of pop stars of the first magnitude, but he gave up this occupation for the sake of the opportunity to realize himself in his own project. They became "Locust".
