Visa-free countries: CIS

Among the countries for which Russians do not need a visa are most of the former republics of the Soviet Union. Consider the features of the entry regime to some of them.

Abkhazia

We will open the list of visa-free countries for Russians in the post-Soviet space, perhaps, from Abkhazia. To visit this state (which, by the way, is so far recognized as independent only by the Russian Federation), a Russian citizen does not even need a passport. True, the period of stay in this sunny country is limited to 90 days. At the same time, you can freely leave and enter as many times as you like - and this period will be “counted down” from the beginning.

The European Parliament today agreed to plenary session in Strasbourg. From the summer there will probably be a relaxation of the travel regime. Ukrainians will need a biometric passport to enter the Schengen area and their 180-day stay will not exceed 90 days.

Ukrainians do not need visas if they come from business, tourism or family reasons. However, without visa regime will not mean the right to work for citizens of Ukraine. Of the non-EU countries, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein have joined the system of free movement without border controls.

Armenia

To visit this hospitable country, a passport is still needed. Citizens of the Russian Federation can stay in it for up to three months in a row.

Azerbaijan

Russian travelers can live in this warm and hospitable republic for up to a month. True, if you register with the local internal affairs bodies, then the period of stay in Azerbaijan can be extended to three months.

Ukraine, according to the EU President, fulfills all the conditions for the liberalization of the visa regime, in November last year, the diplomats of the member states agreed to the abolition of visas. However, the path to free travel for Ukrainians was fully opened before the decision of the European Parliament, which in December last year approved a mechanism for a faster and easier reintroduction of the visa requirement.

Countries for which a visa is granted upon arrival in the country, i.e. at the airport or at the border

The so-called suspension mechanism is called an emergency brake in case of a significant increase in the number of asylum applications from a particular country or other problems. The mechanisms can be called by the countries of the Union or by the European Commission.

Belarus

This wonderful country Russian Federation form a union. Therefore, citizens of the Russian Federation can stay in Belarus for as long as they like according to their internal passport.

Africa

Many countries of this hot continent are happy to welcome Russians without unnecessary formalities.

The reason is that immigrants will start flowing into Europe, an unnamed EU source explains. Turkey has reached the 72 required criteria, he said, but by the end of June, visa requirements will probably not be lifted. However, Ankara agreed with the Union that it wants to keep its borders and keep refugees out of Europe. The main problem with the abolition of visas is Turkey's refusal to ease anti-terrorism laws.

Immigration is also a key issue for the upcoming British European Union referendum in June. The influx of people is suffering from economic problems in the UK - last year only 1.3 million migrants and refugees came to the country.

Let's see what immigration laws are in Africa.

Morocco

You can enter without a visa. Legal stay - 90 days.

Namibia

Tourists and entrepreneurs from Russia can freely enter the country and live in it for up to 3 months.

Botswana

For Russians, entry is free. The term of legal residence is 3 months.

Visa-free countries for Russians, Kazakhstan

Even in the case of Georgia, European plenipotentiaries have not yet decided. The anti-cancellation visas were mainly voiced by France and Germany. According to an unnamed diplomat, the union does not want to stop the process, but must be careful. The debate on the abolition of visas for Ukrainians will continue in a week.

Until the summer, one of the countries promised by the European Union will not be canceled - the European Parliament, which must approve the agreements, will last until July. Then there will be a summer break, and MEPs will meet again in mid-September. They have already begun preparations for the abolition of visas for Ukraine and Georgia, but Turkey does not want to give it up until Ankara meets the required criteria. However, some fear that visa waivers for Turkey will become a political necessity for the refugee agreement.

Ghana

To visit this African country, you need to overcome some formalities. First you need to apply for an entry permit on the website of the embassy, and at the airport of arrival to get a visa.

Seychelles

Russians can enter this state without a visa, stay here legally for up to a month.

Although Turkey is an influx of refugees, with Ukraine and Georgia, it is a geopolitical struggle with Russia over former Soviet states with pro-Western tendencies that Moscow still considers its sphere of influence. Kosovo will be the last country in the Western Balkans whose citizens can travel stateless to EU countries. Union has visa-free regime with about 60 states, including the United United Arab Emirates or Brunei, although human rights groups regularly record their violations there.

Ukraine is once again fighting systemic corruption, although it has granted the Union's request and set up a new institution to fight bribery. Georgia is showing a cautious stance mainly in Berlin because of organized crime. They already have many of these activities in Germany on the conscience of the Georgian gangs. As for Kosovo, five European countries officially do not recognize its existence - Greece, Romania, Cyprus and Slovakia, which will take over the European presidency in July, and Spain, which does not recognize the validity of passports in Kosovo.

Tanzania

The visa is pasted at the airport. The validity period is 3 months.

Togo

The visa is affixed to the passport upon arrival. But its validity period is small - 7 days.

Egypt

The visa is issued at the airport. Valid for 30 days.

Cape Verde

Visa - at the airport. Russians can legally stay in the country for no more than one month.

Turkey, Ukraine, Georgia and Kosovo are relatively close to Europe, and the Union fears a massive influx of its citizens. The waiver of the visa requirement means that people from the respective country can come and stay in the Schengen area at any time for up to 90 days, but not work there.

About two million Kosovo, Georgians and Ukrainians already have state-of-the-art biometric passports, so they could join the Union without a visa, but Turkey hasn't started issuing one yet. On the initial stage only a limited number of people would benefit from the abolition of visas, because without biometric passports impossible to enter Schengen. However, liberals argue that the Union cannot open up another 130 million people in the four countries as they already face massive migration and security risks.

Ethiopia

The visa is pasted into the passport at the airport. Valid for 30 days.

Madagascar

Russians can live here, having entered without a visa, for a month. You can extend your legal stay for another 60 days by gluing your visa on arrival at the airport.

As we can see, there are a significant number of visa-free countries for Russians in Africa.

However, the ambassadors of Kosovo and Georgia in European Union remain hopeful that visa requirements will be lifted. Both countries have elections in October, and people expect a lot of them. The credibility of the union is at stake, the ambassadors said.

The condition was "emergency brake"

In violation of visa waiver rules, they face expulsion for five years and a fine of up to three thousand euros. The liberalization of the visa regime with Georgia begins to be applied along with new rules that will allow the abolition of the visa regime as an "emergency brake" in an emergency. For example, if migrants are suddenly added or because of security threats. Some Member States have taken these measures to abolish short stay visas for Georgians.

It should also be noted that Russians can visit some island states without a visa. Such as, for example, Fiji (the legal period of residence is 90 days) and Mauritius (you can stay for 60 days, the visa is pasted at the airport).

As we can see, many visa-free countries for Russians are inexpensive and popular vacation spots.

It will be useful to know the peculiarities of regulating entry to a number of popular tourist destinations in Russia for which a visa is required.

Thus, the European Parliament approved the abolition of visas for Georgians at the beginning of February, and the Member States then finally completed by the end of last month. In Tbilisi, visa withdrawal was stressful. In addition to the Prime Minister, there were Georgian students, representatives of ethnic minorities, students from areas located near the occupied regions of the country, scientists and journalists on board. The delegation landed in Athens, where Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras received Kvirikashvili.

The European Parliament is due to vote on the issue in plenary session next month, possibly in April. The measures then have to be approved by the national parliaments. The basic principle of the functioning of the Schengen area is the crossing of internal borders without border control in any place, regardless of nationality. Border control is carried out only at the external Schengen borders. Due to location Czech Republic, which directly adjoins only the Schengen states, the external border is located only in international airports.

Visa to Cyprus: features

Is it possible to consider that Cyprus is a visa-free country for Russians? Formally, no. An entry permit is required. However, citizens of the Russian Federation can apply for a visa to this wonderful island in an extremely simplified manner (when compared with the procedure for obtaining an insert in a passport to visit the Schengen countries). There are two main scenarios under which you can get a visa to Cyprus.

have a valid travel document entitling the holder to cross a border that meets the following criteria: it is valid for at least three months after the intended date of departure from the territory of the Member States and has been issued within the previous 10 years. Possess a valid short-term visa, if required, or a valid long-term or permanent residence permit or a valid long-term visa.

Justify the purpose and conditions of the intended stay. Sufficient means of subsistence are provided both for the duration of the intended stay and for return to the country of origin or for transit to a third country where their reception is guaranteed or can be legally secured.

To Cyprus through an agency

Having accreditation, a travel company will be able to help a citizen of the Russian Federation to obtain a visa to Cyprus by providing a very small set of documents:

  • international passport (its validity must be at least 3 months after the expected end date of the trip);
  • questionnaires in English;
  • Photo.

All necessary additional documents(voucher, confirmation of hotel reservation, air tickets, etc., the agency will provide the embassy of Cyprus itself).

They are not persons in the Schengen Information System who will be denied entry. More information on the conditions for entry and short stays in the Schengen area can be found in the Schengen Borders Code. Additional Information about border control.

The obligation to present a travel document does not apply to a third-country national who is registered in the travel document of another person with whom he is traveling. It is always a good idea to check that the travel document has been printed. The third country national must prove that.

When applying through a travel agency, a visa is issued, as a rule, on the very next day after the paperwork is submitted to the consular structures.

To Cyprus on your own

This procedure is slightly more complicated than in the case of contacting an agency. The traveler will have to independently draw up a number of documents required by the Embassy of Cyprus: an invitation from a private person who is a resident of the island state, or a hotel booking confirmation. Otherwise, the conditions are the same - a day to issue a visa.

An important point is that you don’t have to pay a consular fee (unlike, for example, the procedure for issuing an entry permit to most European countries).

Visa to Bulgaria: features

Despite the fact that the bulk of the Balkans are visa-free countries for Russians, Bulgaria requires citizens of the Russian Federation to obtain an entry permit. To visit this beautiful sunny country, Russians need a national visa. It is also possible to enter its territory if a valid Schengen, national Romanian or visa issued by Cyprus is pasted into the passport.

You can apply for a visa, as in the case of a similar procedure for Cyprus, through a travel agency (which is easier) or on your own.

When using the resources of a travel agency, you will need the following documents:

  • passport (as well as its photocopy);
  • a photo;
  • questionnaire.

The rest of the documents - medical policy, hotel reservation confirmation, etc. - the agency will transfer to the consular structures of Bulgaria without the participation of the applicant.

When applying for a visa on your own - the same documents, but additionally you will need:

  • a certificate from the employer, which must indicate the length of service, salary and position;
  • bank statement with an amount of 100 euros for each day of residence in Bulgaria;
  • a medical policy valid for the entire duration of the trip on the territory of this Balkan country;
  • copies of tickets;
  • confirmation of hotel reservation (or an invitation from a resident of Bulgaria).

Visa-free regime is a nice bonus for travelers from the Russian Federation. Such relief is very important for citizens who plan to travel abroad in 2017.

The list of world powers with free entry is constantly expanding. Therefore, before flying to another country, it is advisable to clarify the requirements for entering its territory. It is possible that the borders of the state are already open for the rest of the Russians.
