During this time, three more albums have been released (“Nettle”, “Sweatshirt” and “Blue-eyed Lakes”), they have taken part in powerful concert events and festivals in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kyiv, Tver, etc. More than 150 concerts were given at a variety of venues from pretentious restaurants and nightclubs to village recreation centers and rural canteens. Yes, we broke up with Shvedov. Oleg is undoubtedly a talented administrator and organizer, with all the ensuing consequences. He liked to call himself the producer of Zheka, although by and large he never was one. A producer is a person who deals with the artist's work, delving into the intricacies and details of the process of studio recording, musical and voice presentation, and arrangements. The Swedes did not know how to do this, and in my case this was not required of him. Initially, I dealt with all this “disgrace” only myself. I am grateful to Oleg for his support and assistance provided on initial stage my professional career. The organization of concerts, festivals, tours is only his merit, but in the course of our joint work, his professional and human qualities began to appear, which did not suit me as a companion and just a person. I will not voice them. If I were a little more accommodating and more tolerant, perhaps everything continued, but I am what I am.
As for Svetlana Piterskaya. Of course, if there were no Shvedov, there would be no cooperation with Piterskaya. They are husband and wife. And that's it. I wrote two albums for Sveta. Tell us about the tour... Zheka's name has become popular and in demand in the regions. Did you see your viewer “live” there? Who is he? Who listens to Zheka's songs today?
It is definitely difficult to identify my listener. Naturally, in the overwhelming majority these are accomplished, adult people over thirty. Many women are fans of lyrical songs. It is even more difficult to distribute them according to professional orientation. These are workers, merchants, and representatives of the local economic leadership. I think that representatives of law enforcement agencies and the criminal environment are also present among them. It is difficult for me to judge also because not all of my listeners have the opportunity or desire to get to my performances. Take, for example, me - Paul McCartney performs on Red Square. What else can you dream of?! Pay Zhek $100 and enjoy! You have this opportunity ... But no, in scrap. It’s not a pity for money - I don’t want to crowd in lines, passing to the site, I don’t want the roar of the crowd right next to my ear, pushing, half-drunk, etc. I understand that nothing can be compared in terms of energy with a live performance, but mother laziness gets stuck, I'd better go buy a DVD and watch it all on TV. This is not my craving for the chosen and the best. Apparently, the time has come when it was necessary to release the album “Best Songs” for the Classic Company. I think it has to do with financial matters. It's no secret that pirates have been churning out my "bests" in various compilations for a long time, and the publishers who buy albums from me did not have such a record and felt that they were replenishing the pockets of "musical bootleggers" with "black cash". The release of such a record for me is like an intermediate finish, the successful completion of the first level computer game. It's still too early to draw conclusions. There are still hell knows how many of these levels are ahead, and with each of them the complexity of the game increases. Therefore, I don’t feel the feeling of being bronzed and I don’t consider myself a classic of the genre. Although it is insanely nice to stand on the shelves of kiosks in the same series with A. Severny, M. Krug, I. Kuchin, L. Uspenskaya, M. Shufutinsky, "Lesopoval", V. Medyanik and many others talented people who created this genre and truly became its legend.
Your latest album "Blue-Eyed Lakes" bears frank features of the synthesis of the poetics of chanson and pop music. Is it a desire to remake the genre or a betrayal of it with pop music?
I'm sure pop music lovers will disagree with you. Yes, elements of pop and variety are present in the songs of this disc. But you probably haven’t listened to “Hands Up” and “Reflex” for a long time (smiles). In the "Lakes" there is more mixing of chanson and rock and roll, melodic rock a-la 80s. This was done intentionally - I continue to look for a musical setting for my songs and I think that in this moment you need to step in the pop-rock direction.
- Do you feel in demand in Moscow? And in general, took root in the capital?
As for concert activity, Moscow is overfed with former and present stars of all sizes and nationalities. Thousands of performances and concerts are announced every day, so representatives of the genre song, all without exception, have a hard time here. This fully applies to me. "Custom parties" - on holidays and birthdays do not count, many people feed on this here, but personally I would not want to limit myself to this. I think that Moscow accepted me. She is like a capricious woman spoiled by attention and money - it is impossible to conquer her with a swoop, brazenly and rudely. It is necessary to study her, to know her, sometimes an absurd disposition unacceptable for a provincial, and, worst of all, to honestly fall in love. When she feels that you did it, she will reciprocate. But again, that doesn't mean anything. She will demand from you daily proofs of your love, insane energy and actions for her sake. Otherwise, he will turn away, fall out of love, drive him away.
Jeka! And what are these rumors about a certain musical? Is it true that you decided to outdo Notre Dame and Chicago?
You are well informed - apparently you have your own sources in the chanson party. I cannot now disclose all the details of this work, but I will say that so far only a record in this genre has been ordered for me and the musicians who work with me. On which I have been working as an author and producer for three months now. What it will eventually be called - a musical, an audio series, whether it will eventually turn into a stage production - I have no idea. The content of the disc is chanson stories, united by one common outline, performed by various representatives of chanson. Alexander Dyumin, Anatoly Dneprov, Gennady Zharov, Tanya Tishinskaya, Zheka, Vorovayki, Katya Ogonyok and a dozen more equally talented artists take part in the project. Whether we surpass Kirkorov's "Chicago" will depend on the financial capabilities of customers.
- By the way, sorry for the banality, but I want to ask your opinion about the scandal around Kirkorov.
Are you talking about the scandal with the imposition of cases on a journalist? In general, I am not aware of the details, at least I had no time to read the transcript of that press conference, but I am inclined to think that all this hype was at hand for both Bedrosovich and this aunt. I did not leave the "Chanson" - they "left" me! There are no secrets here, since the fall of 2003, Zheka has been absent from the air of this Moscow radio station. I will speak only for myself, although you are well aware that I am not the only such "lucky one", but rather persona non grata. I think that this is due to the vision of the radio station management of the composition of their artists and the conflict of my former producer with the same management. Negotiations were held with me, conditions were proposed under which my songs would be returned to the air, but I had to sign a contract that was not entirely correct in relation to myself with the Chanson Records company, created at the radio station. I could not go for this - independence in show business was given to me at a too high price. By the way, both "Chanson-Petrograd" and regional radio stations continue to play me. Huge thanks to them for this. At the Moscow "Chanson" I have many good friends and just comrades with whom I maintain warm relations. It is unpleasant to become a hostage of someone's ambitions or political will, but this is again the cost of my independence. I hope that sooner or later common sense will manifest itself, and everything will return to its place. Personally, I'm ready to go forward.
- And what can the viewer and listener expect from Zheka in the near future?
But this is a question that is now very difficult for me to answer. It is clear that for some foreseeable time a new album should be expected from me. But what will it be? I want to point my finger at the sky - only He knows! In general, the concept of the future disc begins to emerge in the brain somewhere in the middle of the work. Some songs planned for recording are removed, I urgently write new ones, shovel and remake already recorded ones, think over and change the order of songs ... It was like this or almost like that during the work on all four of my albums. But now I wanted something different. I don't want to rush anywhere. Until a more or less intelligible scheme of the future album is created in my head, I will not cross the threshold of the studio. I will sit, sort through the sheets of text, rearrange the lines in places, fold the papers in piles and purr their melodies to the guitar. But until everything settles down in the head, I will not budge. So I decided - so I will do it. How long it will last - a year or a week - I do not know. What will be the result, I do not even know approximately.

“I didn’t know if anyone would like my songs, if there would be a company that would release my album, if they would listen to it,” Zheka says. - I was supported only by my friends and my family, who remained in Kurgan. Their help and faith in me helped me to exist and survive in a huge alien city. I lived in a one-room rented “Khrushchev”, without registration, constantly delaying payment, not knowing what I would eat tomorrow, and in general what would happen tomorrow.
When the songs “On Deed”, “Pine-Cedars” and “Camps” were recorded, I began to go around the releasing companies for a long and exhausting time, almost everywhere I was refused. No one wanted to put them on record labels or play them on the radio. I was in complete despair. I don’t know what strength helped me finish the recording of the album.”

Only a few months later, a small Zodiac company, releasing Tanya Tishinskaya, took several of Zheka's songs into their collections. They were put on the “finishing” of other chanson performers, but this was already a small achievement - there was a chance to be heard.
In September of the same 2001, Zheka met producer Oleg Shvedov-Turanov, who works at J.R.C. From that moment on, much in the life of the artist and his administrator has changed. Shvedov undertakes to release Zheka's debut record on J.R.C, arranges rotations on the Chanson radio, places Zheka's songs in numerous CD compilations.
December 20, 2001 Zheka performs for the first time in Moscow. This happens at a concert in memory of Sergei Nagovitsyn at the Meridian Palace of Culture. The concert is attended by: Alexander Dyumin, Gennady Zharov, Anatoly Cloth, Slava Bobkov, Alexander Zventsov, Mikhail Sheleg, Gera Grach and other artists of the chanson genre.

In March 2002, Zheka, at the invitation of Ksenia Strizh, participates in her program “Swift Time” on radio “Chanson”. Then he performs together with Gennady Zharov, Evgeny Chuzhy and Sergey Lyubavin at the radio station site during a beer festival in Luzhniki.
May 28, 2002 debut album Zheki - "Pine-cedars". The entire initial run of cassettes and CDs is sold in full on the day of release. Records are sorely lacking, the album is impossible to buy. Numerous reprints are underway. Pirate copies of the disc are being sold in the regions.
In the summer and autumn of 2002, Zheka became one of the most sought-after young performers in programs at the request of the Chanson radio stations in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

On August 10-11, 2002, concerts in memory of Mikhail Krug, the great chansonnier, who was killed on July 1 in Tver, are held at the Oktyabrsky Big Concert Hall in St. Petersburg. For two days the huge three-thousand-seat hall was overcrowded. Petersburgers came to pay tribute to their favorite artist. The concerts are attended by: Trofim, M. Krug's group "Companion", Katya Ogonyok, Alexander Dyumin, Svetlana Piterskaya, Viktor Nochnoy and others.
Zheka sings the songs “I, like autumn leaf"and" Pines-cedars. The St. Petersburg audience warmly and cordially welcomes the performance of the young singer-songwriter.
In September of the same 2002, Eugene moved to Podolsk near Moscow, the period of the musician's wandering around rented apartments and friends' apartments ends.
During 2002, Zheka, as an author and sound producer, is working on Svetlana Piterskaya's album "Black Star". Especially for Svetlana, “Grey Flowers”, “Sleepers, Sleepers”, “You Know”, “Bird Cherry”, “Black Star”, “Don't Believe Girls” were written. In the period from September to December, Eugene works in the studio, recording songs for a new disc, which is called "Nettle". There are 13 new songs on the disc of various content, from dashingly cheerful to piercingly sad.
“I wanted to make a more “adult”, higher-quality album, and at the same time, preserve the sound and style that were found when recording the “Pine-Cedars” record, Zheka says. The following musicians take part in the work on the album: guitarist and arranger Evgeny Pozdnyakov, keyboardist and programmer from Kurgan Yakov Vokhmentsev, backing vocalist Natalya Nemelyainen, bass guitarist Anton Gorbunov and other musicians.
On January 31, 2003, the Oktyabrsky Big Concert Hall hosts the Decent Song 2002 awards, established by Radio Petrograd-Russian Chanson. Zheka receives nominations for best album("Pine-cedars") and best song("I am like an autumn leaf"). The performance of the beloved artist is accompanied by a storm of applause from the hall of many thousands. April 22, 2003 the company "Classic Company" releases the second record of Zheka "Krapiva". Two months before that, the same company began to sell the full version of the album "Pine-Cedars", which added two songs that were not included in the first version of the disc. Besides full version differs from the previously published one in design.
On June 14, 2003, as part of the Sochi Kinotavr, Zheka became a student of the Film Songs festival. Participants and guests of the festival: Iosif Kobzon, Alexander Rosenbaum, Trofim, Grigory Leps Tanya Tishinskaya, Lesopoval group, Svetlana Piterskaya and others.
Zheka performs the song "Russian Field" from the movie "The Elusive Avengers". “In Sochi, I became very close friends with another festival participant, Viktor Petliura,” Evgeny says, “unfortunately, he rarely comes to Moscow, but we try to keep in touch by phone.”
June 30, 2003 Zheka participates in the 1st Mikhail Krug Festival in Tver. All participants of the concert sailed on ships to the huge stage. Tens of thousands of residents of Tver, despite the rainy weather, enthusiastically received the artists, watching the concert from the embankment of the Volga River. From the end of May to August 2003, in the studio of Evgeny Pozdnyakov, Zheka records his third album, which is called "Sweatshirt". Taking part in the recording of the album: arranger and guitarist Evgeny Pozdnyakov, backing vocalists Natalya Nemelyaynen and Nikolai Arefiev, guitarist Evgeny Bykov and bayanist Alexander Dolgikh. The album contains 13 songs written by Zheka. “The songs of this album are textured, something happens in each of them, each of them has its own specific hero, and this person is at the breaking point or peak of some important life event for him, be it a moment of happiness, immense sadness, or even death,” says the author about his new record.
In addition, Zheka is finishing work on a new album by Svetlana Piterskaya, called "Control Shot". “I wrote 12 songs for Sveta, I participated in two of them as the author of music, the words belong to the poet Mikhail Grubov,” Evgeny reports, “in this disc, unlike the previous Black Star album, I included genre songs-stories, which Sveta has not sung before, I am sure - this will make the album attractive for connoisseurs of the classic thug song.
On October 28, 2003, Zheka's song "Pine-Cedars" takes the 7th place in the national hit parade "Vershina" compiled by the radio station "Chanson" according to the results of the Internet voting of listeners. Subsequently, "Pines" rise to 4th place and are in the top ten chanson hits of the country for 6 weeks.
November 9, 2003 Evgeny takes part in the third international festival"Songs sung by the heart", which takes place in Kyiv. The festival was organized by the Ukrainian "Adult Radio Chanson". Eight thousand fans of the genre song gathered in the Kiev Palace of Sports to see and hear Garik Krichevsky, Alexander Novikov, Igor Slutsky, Efrem Amiramov, Gennady Zharov and many other artists. Zheka sings the songs "Forgive me" and "I'm like an autumn leaf." By the decision of "Adult Radio Chanson" Eugene is called the best debutant on the waves of "Adult Radio".
On November 16, on the stage of the Meteor sports complex in Dnepropetrovsk, Zheka participates in the chanson festival organized by the Ukrainian Radio Chanson, and then performs in a concert dedicated to the birthday of Adult Radio at the Opera and Ballet Theater in Kharkov.
