Concert on Red Square May 24. Patriarch Kirill will open a concert on Red Square

Short review"READING THE BIBLE TOGETHER - IN ONE YEAR!"
For January 20 - Exodus Chapter 7 (I write selectively how much I physically manage to do).

EXODUS 7th chapter
7:3-5 The Lord warns more than once: both Moses and the Jewish people, that it is He who will harden the heart of Pharaoh, that for this reason he will resist for so long and not let them go, so that they would not think in their cowardice or unbelief that so strong is the pharaoh, or that the Lord does not have enough strength against the very strong Egyptian priests, or that the Lord, having begun the process, left him halfway. Do not be surprised at what is happening, and do not allow different thoughts into your hearts and minds, but calmly and firmly believe and trust in the Lord, observing His actions attentively and with amazement.
Why did the Lord harden Pharaoh's heart? I am absolutely sure that the pharaoh at that time had an unrighteous and evil heart; what is worth only one command - to abandon those born Jewish boys into the river! God does not harden the heart good man; I am sure that if Pharaoh had had at least something good in his heart towards the Lord, even like a broken reed or smoking flax, He would not have hardened his heart on His part. But when the Pharaoh turned his heart into solid spiritual blackness, when the measure of the iniquities of the Pharaoh and the Egyptians reached a certain critical point by the Lord, then He decided to punish them in a special way in order to reveal and glorify Himself in this process, to reveal His wonderful and powerful deeds for the peoples . Pharaoh would no longer repent before God, but he would definitely break down earlier, be afraid of this crushing wave of disasters that hit Egypt, and the Lord hardened his heart so that all ten executions planned by Him would be committed against the Egyptians.
This was necessary in order to confirm the hearts of the Jews in faith and trust in the Lord, who revealed them in Egypt and brought them out of there, a God whom they still did not know. This was also necessary in order for the surrounding nations to get an exhaustive idea of the power and possibilities of the Lord, who became the God of the new people on earth, who emerged from Egyptian captivity.
If the Lord does not answer our prayers and save us right away, maybe even today He hardens someone's heart in order to show His glory in a special way??

7:6 "And Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commanded them, so they did." What important and powerful words! Very often, acting in accordance with these words is more important than many prayers and fasts, than boldness of faith and sacrificial consecration, than all other characteristics in our life. And there are times when He does not accept anything else from us. This will be one of the criteria for assessing the quality of all our deeds before the Judgment Seat of Christ.
How often do people act one way or another for various other reasons: because they think it is right and necessary in their mind, or they were told so by authoritative people, or so they were taught at universities, or such actions are dictated by their heredity and upbringing, and for many other reasons. human causes and prerequisites. Even outwardly acting according to the Bible - the Word of God, we are often actually self-willed, taking as a basis those passages from the Bible that we like or justify us, ignoring those that are unpleasant or inconvenient for us. In this case, we do not receive a word from the Lord, but we ourselves take for ourselves from the word written by Him. Often the reason is the simple fact that we do not know how to hear the Lord and do not know how to receive from Him a specific word for real life. Moses and Aaron did everything according to the word they received from the Lord, and so they did.

7:8-12 Priests, sorcerers, sorcerers, psychics, and other servants of the spirit world of Satan, as well as Satan himself, can perform some supernatural actions similar to the actions of God. For this dark world and its prince also possess real power, given by God to them even at their creation. But the deeds of God in such cases are still of better quality than the deeds of Satan, and the authority of the power behind the performed miracles is higher - therefore, Aaron's rod/serpent swallowed up the priests' rods/serpents. For all of us, however, the lesson is that one cannot be sure of a person that he is a servant of God, only on the basis of the supernatural actions performed by him: even Satan can do some of these actions. “Beware lest anyone deceive you” (Matthew 24:4) Jesus Christ taught.

— Are the Day of Slavic Literature and the holiday of music inseparable?

- Since music is eternal and such events perfectly attract attention, why not celebrate in this form? How else can you? Imagine, Red Square - and the whole country sings along with the children's choir. During the concert, the Kultura channel will broadcast live from the Kremlin walls with periodic broadcasts from similar celebrations in Kaliningrad, Kazan and Vladivostok.

- The scope is impressive - except that Eurovision will be compared in scale with the Day of Slavic Literature.

- If we compare these musical events, it will probably turn out that the first is more known. It is hardly worth being proud of this fact. It is a characteristic of our reality and our assessment of what is more important and what is less.

My friend recently talked with schoolchildren. I asked one boy what river St. Petersburg stands on. And he answered: "On the Don." That is why we want the Day of Slavic Literature to become a true celebration of culture and knowledge.

- If it's still a holiday of writing, maybe it was worth checking literacy?

“I assure you, a literacy test is not a holiday. Maybe when you wrote a dictation, it was always a holiday, for me it was not. And another question - how to show the festive dictation on TV? Well, people sit and write. Nothing special.

- But does dictation improve literacy?

— I'm afraid that literacy will soon have to be re-created. The Day of Slavic Literature and Culture is an excuse to think and work to ensure that our children know the Russian language better. Patriarch in introductory remarks every year speaks about the importance of this holiday. Now the Society of Russian Literature, which he headed, has been recreated.

“Writing is also the art of writing. Since beautiful handwriting is a rarity in the age of computers, maybe it's worth holding a calligraphy contest?

- The holiday is celebrated everywhere. And, perhaps, somewhere they will hold something similar. At the federal level, we did not discuss this option. But I know that there are schools of calligraphy at some temples. In the courtyard near the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, for example. Children and adults who study there say that after several classes their consciousness begins to change. After all, there they learn to write beautifully, not even with a pen - with a pen.

— The Day of Slavic Literature and Culture is held with the support of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus'. Will he attend the celebration?

“We are counting on it. In the morning he will serve the Liturgy at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. And then the Holy One will open the feast.

- Anyone can come to Red Square or will there be invitations?

- No invitations. Anyone who wants to can come and sing along with the choir.
