About the festival.
Since 2002, the Rostov region has been hosting international Kayal readings dedicated to the monument of Slavic literature "The Tale of Igor's Campaign".
That is, the festival has already been held 15 times, but I have never been there. And if I could say I didn't know, no. I knew I was going to, but no way. Not order.

On the history of the Word about Igor's regiment.
As I said, the events have been held since 2002, annually. The Kayala Readings are called in honor of the Kayala (Kalitva) River, on which, most likely, the famous battle took place. Although it is believed that the battle was on the Don and Sal rivers. But, this is not about the history of the event itself, but about the legend or artistic conjectures of the author literary work. Readings are the hallmark of the socio-ethnic center "Igorevo Pole" and are held under the motto: "The Tale of Igor's Campaign is a cultural monument that unites peoples." Now there is not only the original text, but also numerous retellings of the masters of the word of the 18th-20th centuries.
The Tale of Igor's Campaign is one of the most famous monuments of ancient Slavic literature. This is a description of the campaign against the Polovtsy of the Novgorod prince Igor Svyatoslavich in alliance with other princes (1185). The trip turned out to be unsuccessful. As a result of the battle, Igor was captured, and the regiments were defeated.
On May 16, in the village of Pogorelov, Belokalitvinsky district, Rostov region, the traditional Kayal readings were held. The event is dedicated to the heroic victory of Prince Igor Novgorod-Seversky over the Polovtsian Khan Konchak. According to legend, this historic battle took place here.
Despite the intermittent downpour, the event, as before, gathered several thousand spectators. Among which, in addition to the inhabitants of the Don, there were representatives of Belarus and Ukraine, as well as many subjects Russian Federation. Visited this year Kayalsky readings and guests from the new subjects of Russia - the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
On the same day in the city of Belaya Kalitva a friendly Soccer game between the Government of the Rostov Region and the State Council of the Republic of Crimea, dedicated to the anniversary of the reunification of the peninsula with Russia, as well as the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
For all visitors of the Kayal readings, the cuisines of the peoples of the world worked, military history clubs and creative teams performed, everyone could purchase products of folk artisans.
As always, the most long-awaited and spectacular part of the event was the reconstruction of the battle between the troops of Prince Igor and the Polovtsians.

There is a unique place in the Rostov region - the place of the alleged battle between the troops of Prince Igor Novgorod-Seversky and the army of the Polovtsian Khan Konchak. Recall that "The Tale of Igor's Campaign" is the most famous monument ancient Russian literature and culture in general - describes the unsuccessful campaign against the Polovtsians of Novgorod-Seversky prince Igor Svyatoslavich in alliance with Vsevolod, Vladimir and Svyatoslav Olgovich (1185).

International Kayal Readings are dedicated to the monument Old Russian culture"The Tale of Igor's Campaign". The holding of such events is an example of the formation of platforms for international communication and the preservation of historical memory.
The start of the grandiose events was given at the farm church. Welcoming words from the guests of honor, the project organizers - the leadership of the Association for International Socio-Cultural Cooperation of Social Scientists "Our World", and now, in a couple of minutes, the delegation leaves for the exhibition of children's art works "Young Talents of the Fatherland". The project of this exposition at Igor's Field began to be implemented five years ago. At first, the paintings were hung on the wall of the House of Culture, later, through the efforts of local residents, a corner intended for the exhibition was opened. Today, the works of pupils of children's help centers from Volgodonsk, Tatsinsky, Belokalitvinsky and other districts of the Rostov region are presented here. Across children's creativity the world can be seen with different eyes, participants of the meeting say.

The armor that I'm wearing now is called "Torzhok". It is assembled from steel plates found in the area. It weighs about 8.5 kilograms and this is only part of the warrior's attire. In total, in battle, it is up to 30 kilograms of armor.
That is how much the vestment of Alexander Ozerov weighs. It is made of millimeter-thick steel, which increases reliability, but maneuverability does not. Despite this, in it you need to manage not only to run fast, but also to dodge enemy attacks.
