The central house of the actor on the Arbat is a living room. Central House of the Actor

The Central Actor's House was established in 1937 as an acting club, as a place of rest and informal communication for theater people. Over the years of its existence, the Actor's House has become a center of creative intelligentsia, carrying out the work of great importance for the professional and social support of theater workers, both young and stage veterans.

After the fire of the building on Tverskaya (Gorkogo St., 16), the Actor's House occupies the building on Arbat, 35, which, by Decree of the President of Russia, was transferred to the Actor's House for free use.

This House has become a place of live acting communication, an attractive center for the creative intelligentsia of Moscow and Russia as a whole. In the house on the Arbat, not only everything that was on Tverskaya was continued, but also a huge number of new projects were implemented. Numerous clubs and sections on professional interests operate in the Actor's House.

On Arbat, 35, an atmosphere of a cozy home has been created, where everyone is equal: young and old, folk and just actors, where everyone is united on mutual respect.

The actor's house provides creative teams with its halls and stages for rehearsals of performances and their rental free of charge. Here began the biography of those who now form the basis of modern theater. Under the Arbat roof, the Theater "Workshop of P. Fomenko", the theater of A. Kalyagin, the theater of A. Dzhigarkhanyan began, the projects of O. Menshikov, M. Kozakov, O. Aroseva, I. Muravyova, L. Gurchenko, T. Dogileva, O. Mysina.

Every month, only in the Great Hall, 5-6 creative evenings of directors, actors, playwrights, critics, theater groups take place. Traditionally arranged are presentation evenings of books about theater figures, creative seminars, exhibitions of works by theater artists, annual exhibitions of works by theater production workshops, evenings dedicated to the memory of outstanding masters of the national stage.

In a situation where touring activities have practically been curtailed, the Actor's House provides its venues for theater groups from Russia and actors from the CIS countries. Almost every month, the Actor's House receives guests. Recently, actors from St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh, Orel, Krasnoyarsk, Tomsk, Irkutsk, Petrozavodsk, Yekaterinburg, Vologda, Zlatoust, Ulan-Ude, Kharkov, Tashkent, Odessa and other cities have shown their performances here.

In turn, the Actor's House has repeatedly organized charitable trips of the "stars" of the Moscow stage to Russian cities: Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Tyumen, Irkutsk, Yekaterinburg, Petrozavodsk. The proceeds from the performances were used to financially support the veterans of the scene in these cities.

On March 27, International Theater Day, the House of Actors holds an International Theater Meeting of outstanding actors of the former Soviet Union, strengthening the long-standing traditions of cultural ties, providing an opportunity for the Moscow theater community to communicate with their old friends: Donatas Banionis and Regimantas Adomaitis from Lithuania, Mikk Mikiver from Estonia, Vija Artmane and Lilita Ozolinya from Latvia, Kakhi Kavsadze, Sofiko Chaureli, Otar Megvinetukhutsesi from Georgia, Jamal Seidakhmatova from Kyrgyzstan, Ada Rogovtseva from Ukraine, Rostislav Yankovsky from Belarus and others.

The House of the Actor is a co-founder and co-participant of a number of international and Russian festivals and competitions: the International Festival of Single Actor Performances, the International Festival of Graduation Performances of Theater Schools "Podium", the Russian Festival of Theater Skits "Merry Goat", the Russian Acting Song Contest named after Andrei Mironov.

In recent years, the Actor's House has been actively cooperating with Russian foreign centers of science and culture. The actor's house annually forms creative groups and sends them to perform in front of compatriots. Paris, Berlin, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava - these are the permanent foreign addresses of the theater drawing rooms of the Actor's House.

At various times, Elina Bystritskaya, Yulia Borisova, Vera Vasilyeva, Olga Aroseva, Olga Yakovleva, Svetlana Nemolyaeva, Svetlana Varguzova, Margarita Terekhova, Olga Ostroumova, Vladimir Etush, Vladimir Andreev, Vasily Lanovoy, Alexander Kalyagin, Sergey Yursky, Alexander Lazarev spoke to compatriots , Yuri Vedeneev, Yuri Vasiliev, Fedor Chekhankov, Sergei Makovetsky, and others. Creative youth is always widely represented.

Every year the Actor's House organizes a tourist trip for a group of actors (up to 40-50 people) abroad.

The actor's house takes care of the younger generation. Since 1992, at the House, there has been a Center for the Development of Children's Intelligence and Creativity for children of actors, which provides a harmonious, comprehensive course of preschool preparation, and for schoolchildren - classes in theater studios.

Recently, a special youth program has been developed, aimed at revealing the creative possibilities of a novice actor. It includes cycles of evenings: "Initiation into Artists" - a performance of graduates who open their first season in a professional theater, "Runway" - new names that have clearly declared themselves, "Scribble graduates".

Reviews about "House of the actor"

The fruitless efforts of love.
This play has not yet been parsed into quotes, like Hamlet or Romeo and Juliet, and it has not yet been made into a film, as in the case of "Anything, or the 12th night", it was not staged at all, but what we saw We really, really liked it!
The play "Love's Labour's Lost" staged by Andrei Shchukin's theatrical crafts workshop can be seen at the Central Actor's House on the Arbat. The team of workshops consists of graduates of the variety department of GITIS, and perhaps this is what determined the nature of the performance, it turned out not just a musical comedy, but a theatrical skit on the verge of clowning.
I also want to note that, despite the small size of the hall (only 3 rows), the music is real, live! Before the start of the performance, we got to the rehearsal of the musicians, it was a wonderful additional bonus :)
The impression of a skit is also created by a minimum of scenery and simplicity of costumes, but all this is overshadowed by the brilliant, sincere play of all the actors!

Performance "Love's Labour's Lost"
This comedy is not the strongest and not the most famous work of W. Shakespeare, but at the same time this comedy is very easy to understand, which probably determined the choice for young actors.
According to the plot, the King of Navarre for some reason decided that the fair sex distracts him and his closest subjects from more important matters of national importance and imposes a moratorium on communication with women. And as it usually happens, it is at this moment that events develop in such a way that the vow becomes impossible to fulfill.
Looking at the young team involved in the performance, you understand that you don’t have to worry about the future of the theater.
The performance looks at ease, in one breath. Events unfold on the stage, absolutely not straining the viewer, while not letting go of his attention.
The performance uses live music and presented many comical moments that were understood by both the younger generation of spectators (there were some) and spectators of advanced age.
The scenography of the performance is expectedly simple: the princess's camp, depicted on black and white canvases. But this simplicity does not spoil the performance at all.
The walls of the theater themselves have a good atmosphere and pleasant sensations, having been here once, you want to come back again and again.

Healthy

Performance "Now you are God again"
A deep and heartfelt performance about schoolchildren, in which everyone can see themselves. And it doesn’t matter how old you are, 15, 30 or 55. We all asked questions: “Is there a God”, “Why do I need faith?”, “Why do people suffer?”, we all once did not receive support from loved ones or were just alone. This happens to the characters of the play, they try to understand themselves, they open their hearts and suddenly find a friend.
I highly recommend this performance, it did not leave me indifferent.

I chose the theater for its convenient location - on the Arbat, and the play "Ideal Style" - for the well-known actors playing there. Despite the fact that there are only 2 actors on the stage during the action, the performance looks holistic and interesting. Only once a male duet will be diluted by a lady, but this is more of an appearance-bummer than a full-fledged character. The actors play expressively, and it is especially interesting to watch them in the small hall of the theater, when they are almost a stone's throw away.

And it seems that the speatcal really raises topical topics of relationships, jealousy, love, etc., but ... apparently, not in a manner characteristic of me. For me personally, the performance seemed too mundane and modern or something. In places there was a mat and vulgar jokes and phrases. Perhaps it is simply designed more for a male audience. With pleasure I looked at the game of Maikov and Voskresensky, but the theme of the performance did not hook me.

"Shadows" theater "De Utvalgte" (Norway)
Despite my super-saturated theatrical life, I have not yet encountered the Norwegian theater and, to my regret, the work of the playwright Jun Fosse was completely unknown to me. But since they organized a whole festival named after him, then apparently Yun Fosse is significant for Norwegians, like Anton Chekhov for us, for example. So, the play "Shadows". For the first ten minutes, it was, perhaps, difficult to get involved in the meaning of what was happening on the stage: two elderly couples come and go in almost complete darkness, sit on a bench together and alone, and above the stage on six egg-shaped screens children's faces are projected and children's voices monotonously pronounce the text. The text with constant repetitions and time jumps gradually sucks the viewer into its own space, into the space between life and death, where souls fall, a little frightened, not understanding where they are and what is happening around them. But here they meet childhood friends, lost lovers and long-dead parents. The idea of the incarnation of immortal souls in the form of children is very successful: the souls are cleansed of the layers of life, of heavy memories, and only shadows of feelings remain with them. The creators of the performance have a half-mad dream: to wait until the children, whose faces and voices are recorded on video, grow up to the age of the elderly couples present on the stage, then the performance will receive its ideal embodiment. Well, it remains to wait seventy years ...

Don't part with your loved ones
The play “Do not part with your loved ones” was written by Alexander Volodin in the early 70s, and it would seem that what today’s youth cares about the problems of married couples of those years, sharing a sofa and a color TV during a divorce. But apparently the story of Katya and Mitya, who stupidly parted because of an imaginary betrayal, but, as it turned out, could not live without each other, still excites hearts. Director Roman Shevchenko staged the old Soviet play in a very dynamic way, filling it with Zemfira's songs and a pseudo-documentary video sequence. Of the scenery on the stage, there are only red chairs, adding additional dynamics to the breakup stories played out on stage. As I understand it, all the roles are played by students of the Institute of Theater Arts (ITI), they play virtuoso, soulfully, with full dedication. The performance, shown on the Small Stage of the Actor's House, keeps the viewer in suspense from the first to the last minute, not allowing them to be distracted even for a second. Unfortunately, there was no program, and therefore the names of the actors remained unknown to me, but I hope that a wonderful creative future awaits all of them.

X Would you like to dine in a relaxed atmosphere, at the next table with famous actors, poets, pop artists? Do you want to decorate an ordinary evening with the spirit of bohemia, creativity? Then the restaurant "House of the actor" is the best for you.
H The name of this institution justifies itself 100%: "House of the Actor" - this is the house where the actors gather to take a break from a hard day, talk about art, hold a creative meeting or celebrate a solemn event. This is facilitated by the very location of the restaurant - it is located on Stary Arbat, 35, opposite the theater. Vakhtangov. The staff here is proud that the "House of the Actor" is known and loved by all the actors in Moscow, because it was founded back in 1937! True, then the restaurant was located in a completely different place - on Tverskaya Street (Gorkogo Street in those days), and was known to city bohemia as a WTO restaurant (the famous All-Union Theater Society), it was a great honor to get there! .. Unfortunately, the building on Tverskaya burned down in 1990, and the Soviet Union collapsed, but the restaurant, beloved by actors and Muscovites, was revived on Arbat, a street symbol of the culture of new Russia.
T Since the "House of the Actor" was originally conceived as an acting club, its menu is based on acting preferences. Mostly Russian and European cuisine is presented here, but there are also some Caucasian dishes that are especially loved by visitors (for example, Ossetian pies, which are cooked here according to special recipes). In the "House of the Actor" you will be treated to simple, solid, inexpensive dishes, but incredibly tasty and satisfying - after all, the club is intended primarily for communication, which means that a meal should not interfere with people in this.
B Most of the recipes have been preserved from the WTO restaurant. These are, for example, the exquisite "Sudak Orly", "Brizol", "Admiral" cutlets, which Plyatt, Utyosov, Yanshin once ordered on Gorky Street ... sauce is a dish with a special history, its recipe was invented by the famous Yakov Rosenthal, the former director of the restaurant, whom his friends called Beard. Also on the menu you will find well-known modern surnames: one of the most luxurious snacks is called "Big Greetings from M. A. Eskina (Director of the Central House of Actors)", "Shirvindtov's Omelet" is prepared according to the recipe presented by Alexander Shirvindt himself.
H oh, don’t think that this cozy, in some ways even extravagant place is a kind of sky-high haven of stars, and mere mortals don’t even dare to dream about it. Anyone who wants to have a delicious dinner, and perhaps - suddenly get lucky! - take a picture with your favorite actor, you can always go into a quiet Arbat lane, go up to the sixth floor - and now the "House of the Actor" opens its doors to you! ..

Today, the Actor's House on the Arbat works for the theater community. This is where people of the theater meet and communicate. It has a long and not always happy history. The Central House of the Actor on the Arbat was formed by Alexander Moiseevich Eskin in 1937. He was supported by many prominent theater figures. Initially, it was conceived as a kind of informal club for meetings and communication of people of art. For these purposes, the government of the USSR allocated and transferred a building on Tverskaya Street at house number 16. It housed (it is also a cinema hall), a restaurant, a cafe, many offices of employees and cozy rooms for creative evenings. Even in the rather restrained Stalinist time, an atmosphere of looseness, wit and creativity reigned here.

Freedom and Creativity Club

The atmosphere of freethinking, play and humor quickly formed into skits, in which Rostislav Plyatt, Maria Mironova and many other legendary actors took part with pleasure. In 1964, the House of Actors was named after the great actress Alexandra Yablochkina, since she was not only the “ruler of hearts” on stage, but also headed the central and Moscow departments of the theater society for a long time. Alexander Eskin from the moment the House of Actors was opened until his death in 1985 was its permanent director. In addition to him, the House always had public directors: Evgeny Ozerov and others. Margarita Eskina replaced her father as head of the CDA.

1991 fire and stagnation

They did not bypass the creative environment either. In February 1991, the Actor's House was

It was set on fire and fell into complete disrepair. For almost two years, the theater community had no shelter, until almost two years later the Ministry of Culture gave it shelter in its building on Stary Arbat. Since then, the Actor's House on the Arbat has been known. As soon as the employees settled down in the room, the rooms were barely decorated and meetings began, when claims appeared about the transfer of the building to other hands: Rossvyazokhrankultura decided to place its apparatus in most of the building. Russia's Boris Yeltsin on the transfer of the building on Stary Arbat to the CDA did not solve the situation. The decree was not accepted for execution by Rossvyazokhrankultura.

A new house on the Arbat: times of formation in new conditions

The actor's house on the Arbat withstood all external attacks, but inside the intensive creative life did not stop: the country was changing, the foundations were changing. Not only were new types of art needed, but in difficult times it was necessary to support veterans of the scene and help the development of promising youth. The actor's house on the Arbat was supported by many famous creative people, the speaker of the Federation Council Sergei Mironov and President Dmitry Medvedev. Rossvyazohrankultura was abolished, and the claims were cancelled. Since then, life in the Actor's House has been going smoothly, and a stable opportunity has formed to continue the traditions of the Soviet theater and create our own, new ones. The CDA is still headed by Margarita Eskina.

Meeting point: Arbat, 35, Actor's House

Today, for the participants of the theatrical community, there is no question of where to meet. The place is known and dear to everyone: Arbat, 35, House of the actor. Mandatory skits are held here for the opening of the season and for a birthday - February 14th. The actor's house on the Arbat constantly meets foreign colleagues and holds various concerts. There is a restaurant in the CDA, where, upon prior request, you can hold a celebration for mere mortals. But the main thing is that the House remains the concentration of creative people, and many interesting projects were born within its walls that delight the audience of Moscow and Russia. Visiting theater workers always come to the CDA, because where, if not here, you can meet many colleagues at once.

The Central House of the Actor is a unique creative association that has no analogues in the whole world. It was organized by Alexander Moiseevich Eskin in 1937 as an acting club, as a place of rest and informal communication for theater people.

Over the years of its existence, the Actor's House has become the center of the creative life of the intelligentsia, performing work on professional and social support for theater workers, both beginners and stage veterans. After the fire at the house on Tverskaya (Gorkogo street, 16), the actor's house occupies the premises on Arbat, 35, which, by the Decree of the President of Russia, was transferred to the CDA for free use.

This House has become a place of live actors' communication, an attractive center for the creative intelligentsia of Moscow and Russia as a whole: The Actor's House provides creative teams with its halls and stages for rehearsals of performances and their rental free of charge. Here began the biography of those who are now the pride of the modern theater.

Under the Arbat roof, the Theater "Workshop of P. Fomenko", "Quartet I", the theater of A. Kalyagin, the theater of A. Dzhigarkhanyan began. The projects of O. Menshikov, M. Kozakov, O. Aroseva, I. Muravieva, L. Gurchenko, T. Dogileva, O. Mysina were carried out.

Margarita Alexandrovna Eskina (1933-2009), who led the House from 1987 until her last day, played an important role in the development of the House. It was under her that the acting community managed to defend the building on Arbat, 35. The creative life of the acting club found its unique expression.

Today, 5 theatrical venues operate simultaneously in the CCA: the Great Hall, the Small Hall, the Chamber Hall, the Living Room, and the Art Salon. Creative life is in full swing here: evenings, premieres, presentations of new books, seminars, exhibitions, master classes, festivals.

The Actor's House actively cooperates with Russian foreign centers of science and culture, annually forms creative groups and sends them to perform in front of compatriots. Paris, Berlin, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava are permanent foreign addresses of the theatrical living rooms of the House.

The theatrical drawing room of the Actor's House works not only in European cultural centers. Her addresses can also be found in the Russian outback. Every year, festivals of Russian theaters are held here, uniting the acting community of a huge country within the framework of the Arbat Meetings project.

The Bureau of Youth Projects operates in the CCA, whose activities are aimed at revealing the creative possibilities of a novice actor. It includes cycles of evenings: "Initiation into Tartists", "Introduction to freshmen of theatrical universities", "Students are joking" - traditional April Fools' evenings.

The life of an actor from the first steps to creative maturity is the focus of the House. Monthly veterans of the scene receive financial and creative assistance. Numerous clubs and sections on professional interests operate in the Actor's House.

Particularly popular with actors are "Actor's Gatherings", organized by L. Chernovskaya, bringing together actors from different theaters. This is a classic skit, performed “for their own” in the relaxed atmosphere of an acting club. Since 1992, at the House of the Actor, there has been a Center for the Development of Children's Intelligence and Creativity for Children of Actors (Children's School), which provides a comprehensive pre-school training course.

The play "Do not part with your loved ones", which premieres at the Central House of Actors, made a strong impression with a modern look at the heroes of the classic play by Alexander Volodin. Under the burning songs of Zemfira, using a minimum number of scenery, and props that can be literally counted on the fingers, young actors involve the audience in their full of stormy and emotional events, not an easy life. The background is a video sequence, like a family documentary. The main characters, only after going through divorce, suffering and trials of betrayal and condemnation of others, return to each other, because they understand the main thing - they love and cannot live without this love. Immediately after the divorce, Katya ends up in the hospital, where Mitya finds her with an extinct look and broken by physical suffering. But even there she is still his beloved, who does not want to let him go, because she is afraid to lose forever. Director Roman Shevchenko staged a play written in the 70s in a dynamic, modern and emotional way. Now young people are more free from other people's opinions, but this relationship between a man and a woman has not become easier. They also suffer from separation, jealousy and misunderstanding, just like officially married couples. This is probably why the divorce procedure is exaggerated to a farce and embellished, if I may say so about an event that is disgusting for a young family. Both partners are defenseless against everything that separates them. And only in one their strength - they love each other. The film of the same name with good actors was somehow imperceptible for me at that time, ordinary. And you won't be bored with this show. Two hours of nervous tension of the heroes, confrontation with circumstances, funny and heartbreaking, beautiful and ugly. The contrast of white clothes and the black background of the scene, which really does not exist. Reach out your hand, take a step - and you are one of them. A strong impression was made by the acting work of the main character playing Katya. I really liked her bright rival, Irina, who has a beautiful voice. Parallel stories from the lives of the heroes were what is called laughter through tears. Is it possible to laugh when a policeman is forced to look at photographs of children at gunpoint with a lighter? When a woman, distraught from hopelessness, handcuffed her sleeping husband so that he would not run away. Then comes the court and the former spouses share a sofa and TV. And suddenly - misfortune, hospital. It's already scary. Because we are all already there, inside this story, we have forgotten about time and reality. We are waiting for one - will return or not, and he returns. With oranges in a string bag, in a dressing gown thrown over her shoulders to her, still weak bodily, but it doesn’t matter. They are together and that's what matters. The young actors on the stage are incredibly sincere and touching, the love story is told with slight irony and emotionally in tune with the music that accompanies the action. I love such returns to the times of the 70s, the atmosphere of which was surprisingly conveyed to those who know about those years from books and films, and did not experience and feel it personally. Golden youth and simple guys and girls, the music of the first vocal and instrumental ensembles and dances in discos, miniskirts and platform shoes. All this returned for a short time, came to life and sounded on the stage of the Theater of the Actor's House.
