Today we will learn how to make mother's day cards with our own hands. First, let's remember what kind of holiday it is.

An international holiday that is celebrated in all countries on different days. In Russia, it began to be celebrated quite recently, only 14 years ago. There is no fixed date for this holiday. It is celebrated on the last Sunday of November, i.e. in 2015 - 29 November. In Ukraine, it is celebrated on the second Sunday of May. On this day, no one can remain indifferent to mothers. Everyone is in a hurry to say warm words of love and gratitude to them. Every mother deserves it, not only on this day, but on any other. To remind your mother of your love, you can make a gentle card with your own hands.

Postcard material:

  • colored paper double-sided;
  • scissors;
  • toothpicks;
  • strips for quilling;
  • PVA glue.

Making a Mother's Day Card

For the base, take thick paper, you can use cardboard. Glue paper in a contrasting color on it. For figured forms, you can use napkins (round). Set them aside and start decorating the postcard.

We will immediately make several paper roses, they look rich on any postcard.
From colored paper, cut three strips 1 cm wide. Take one strip and a toothpick.

Bend either end of the strip at a 45 degree angle.

Screw the strip onto the toothpick to the end of the fold. Next, you will need to wrap the paper 30-35 degrees away from you and twist the toothpick to wind the strip of paper.

For a rose to be beautiful, there should not be enough bends.

When the rose is ready, drop a good drop of glue into the middle of the rose from the bottom, cover it with the tip of the strip, and hold it in your hands for a while, squeezing the middle in your hands so that it sticks well. You can put a rose under a small press. Make three roses.

We also need small chrysanthemums. For their manufacture, we use strips 1.2-1.5 cm wide. Make a fringe on them with scissors.

Roll the strips of fringed paper into a tight spiral. Unravel the fringe of the flower.

Instead of leaves, we will make beautiful curls. Take 3mm quilling paper.

Fold the two strips in half.

Twist the fold onto a toothpick.

Remove it, you get a curl. Now distribute the strips at the same distance from each other. Cut the paper along the shortest strip and glue them together.

We also need one unblown bud. From a strip 3 mm wide, twist a tight spiral. Extrude the middle of the spiral giving the shape of a cone.

Glue an unopened chrysanthemum in the middle.

Collect all the elements in the composition.

Write congratulatory words.

  3. Take a few white and pink napkins, and cut them into four identical strips. Then cut each strip with scissors into 3x3 cm squares.

DIY Mother's Day Cards: Materials and Methods

In order to make a beautiful postcard, you need to have beautiful paper, ribbons, markers or pencils on hand. The postcard should be bright, convey your warmth and tenderness.

Bouquet of love and tenderness

This postcard has a great meaning and its appearance gives the arms of children's hands, which are collected in a large bouquet. For this craft, you will need cardboard, colored paper, glue, a bow, and markers.

Cardboard can be used both colored and embossed. Colored paper should be beautiful with juicy shades. You can either buy a bow in the store ready-made, or make it yourself from ribbons.

We prepare the details. To do this, on colored paper (on the reverse side), attach and circle the contour of the child's palm of both hands with a pencil. Cut out the resulting image. Make as many of these blanks as possible using paper of different colors.

The postcard can be either folded or unfolded. If you will make a folding postcard, then it is best to place the bouquet on the wrapper, and write the words of the wish inside.

You need to glue the bouquet from the top point, gradually descending to its base. Glue the uppermost palm, glue a row of 2-3 palms below, then a row of 4. Thus, the bouquet will turn out lush and voluminous. Vary the colors, do not glue two palms of the same color next to each other.

Having glued all the palms, you need to make the stem of the bouquet. To do this, cut out long thin strips of green paper in the amount of 7-9 pieces. and glue them one on top of the other along the bouquet, preferably obliquely. Position them so that the side edge of one strip lays down and slightly overlaps the side edge of the other strip.

Glue a beautiful bow at the junction of the palms and the stem. If you want to make a bow, then such a simple technique will do.

Take two types of ribbons in contrasting shades. Fold one ribbon in four layers and the other ribbon in the same way. Lay one on top of the other and tie them in the center. Straighten the edges of the loops crosswise in the form of the letter X.

Glue the resulting bow on the bouquet and start writing nice words for mom. The name of the card can be written something like this: “A bouquet of love and tenderness for dear mom Name”, and below is a quatrain with wishes. Do not forget to indicate from whom this gift and the year of manufacture. A nice gift in the form of a postcard for Mother's Day is ready.

Postcard with three-dimensional flowers

These flowers can be used to make a card for Mother's Day. To do this, you will need a base for a postcard in the form of colored or openwork cardboard, white paper, watercolor or gouache of different shades or colored paper, glue, beads (rhinestones or buttons) and multi-colored markers.

Before making the flowers, paint plain white paper with paints and let it dry. You need to get several shades of the same color, for example, dark red, light red and pale pink.

If you don't want to paint, you can use colored crepe paper or colored plain paper.

Cut out 9 paper circles of different sizes in diameter (6 cm, 5 cm and 3 cm). Three mugs for each size. In this case, circles of the same size should be the same color. Now, on each part, in the direction from the edge to the center, cut strips up to 0.5 cm wide, no more. The cuts should be located at the same distance from each other.

Fold the resulting terry circles on top of each other and glue in the center. Layers of circles look like this: the lowest three large circles, three slightly smaller circles are glued on top of them, and above the three smallest ones. Glue a beautiful bead or rhinestone or button in the middle of the flower. One flower is ready.

For the beauty of the postcard, make as many of these flowers as possible and arrange them more closely to each other or around the perimeter of the postcard.

Next to the flowers, you can sign, for example: "Happy Mother's Day!", And write congratulations and poems inside the postcard.

Quilling postcard

This technique is not difficult to master even for a novice master. A card with flowers or quilling patterns will look gentle and difficult.

To work, you will need special colored paper for quilling, needles, glue, cardboard, a stencil, rhinestones, sparkles and a knitting needle on which the paper is wound can be useful.

The technique consists in twisting multi-colored strips of paper and giving them a variety of shapes, and then the resulting element can either be glued to a plane or made into a three-dimensional composition with it.

Strips of multi-colored paper are wound in a spiral on a thin object. For winding, you can use a needle, knitting needle or a thin rod from a ballpoint pen.

In order to get a beautiful pattern, you need to bend it with your hands or with the help of foreign objects (for example, press it against a ballpoint pen - you get a semicircle, press it against the edge of the table - you get a right angle, and so on).

Here's how you can make elements of paper twisted into a spiral.

Collect several resulting elements into one figure. So, for example, five red petals are glued together on the sides into a circle. It turns out a flower. Green petals are glued together in the form of a ladder - a stem with leaves is obtained. In order for the parts to stick, they are fixed with needles until the glue dries.

You can make more complex elements by combining several parts of different shapes and sizes.

When creating a composition, it is important: first, small parts are fastened together, and after that the whole assembled product is glued to the plane. In our case, such a plane is the outer side of the postcard. This is how you can arrange flowers on a postcard.

Be sure to write beautiful words of congratulations and wishes of good health to your beloved mother.

  • Use beautiful cardboard as the base of the postcard. You can decorate it by trimming and rounding the corners. You can also glue a thin tape around the perimeter of the postcard.
  • On the inside of the postcard on the spread or on the back of it, write the date and year of work in small letters. Imagine how interesting it will be for your mother, going through old cabinets, to find your handmade postcard. She will definitely want to remember when you made this gift for her and the date will come in handy here.
