Season Rules

After the 40th anniversary season, which was held in 2015, the rules of the season have undergone significant changes.

Season structure

Since the 2016 season, 10 teams of experts have been constantly participating in the Club. Due to the increase in the number of teams, the number of games played per year has also increased - from 17 to 20, as in the last year's anniversary season.

Each series consists of five games, and now there are no series finals as such - only the Final of the Year remains, the rest of the games are simply called the last. However, the frequency of awarding the Crystal and Diamond Owls has not changed: the Crystal Owl is awarded in every last game of the Spring, Summer and Autumn series, and the Diamond Owl is awarded in the Winter Series, in the Final of the year.

Thus, the Spring, Summer and Fall series consist of five games, the Winter series - of four games and the Final of the year.

The following items have been added to the season structure:

  • A team that has lost its last game cannot play in the Winter Series.
  • A team that loses two games in one season is ineligible for the next season.
  • A team that has not won a single game in the previous two seasons is also forfeited from the next season (this rule comes into force in 2017).

Rating

Instead of game rating The regular season introduced a constant rating of teams, which does not change throughout the season. At the beginning of the season, the Club's teams receive places in the ranking from 1 to 10, depending on the results of games in previous seasons. The higher the team's achievements, the higher its place in the ranking. A team with a higher rating, with equal performance, will have priority over the rest. And unlike the Regular Season, the team's place in the ranking does not change during the season.

* the team is not participating in this year's games

Game order

The Spring and Summer Series now do not have differences in their "importance": during them, each team of the Club plays one game. According to the overall results of these games, teams are given the right to play in the Winter Series or the opportunity to get into the Autumn Series.

spring series

Teams with odd ranking positions take part in the Spring Series:

  • First game - 9th place
  • Second game - 7th place
  • Third game - 5th place
  • Fourth game - 3rd place
  • Fifth game - 1st place

The team that wins last wins the Spring Series and is eligible to play in the Winter Series. The rest of the teams have a chance to play in the Autumn Series.

Summer series

Teams with even positions in the rating take part in the Summer Series:

  • First game - 10th place
  • Second game - 8th place
  • Third game - 6th place
  • Fourth game - 4th place
  • Fifth game - 2nd place

The team that wins last wins the Summer Series and is eligible to play in the Winter Series. The rest of the teams have a chance to play in the Autumn Series.

Autumn series

In the first game of the Autumn Series, a team of labor collectives will play. Regardless of the result of the game, this team does not qualify for participation in further games of the season.

The teams that won the Spring and Summer Series will take part in the second, third, fourth and fifth games of the Autumn Series (except for the teams that advanced to the Winter Series). The order of games in the Autumn Series depends on the team's place in the season ranking - the higher the place in the ranking, the later the team plays. And:

  • If there are fewer places in the Fall Series than the winning teams in the Spring and Summer Series, the teams ranked higher in the season's ranking will have a priority right to play.
  • If there are more places in the Fall Series than the winning teams, then the teams that lost in the Spring or Summer Series may take the remaining places. The priority right to play will be given to teams that occupy higher places in the ranking of the season.

The team that wins last wins the Fall Series and is eligible to play in the Winter Series.

Winter series

The winter series has not undergone such significant changes as the rest. However, some adjustments were made to the order. From now on, the Decisive Round is relevant and applies only to the Winter Series.

The first game of the Winter Series will feature either the club's away team, or the combined team of Crystal Atom prize winners, or a team of connoisseurs that has never lost in the 2016 season, but has not advanced to the Winter Series according to the basic rules.

The winning team of the Fall Series will play in the second game of the Winter Series.

The winning teams of the Spring and Summer Series will take part in the third and fourth games of the Winter Series. Moreover, the sequence of these games depends on the place of the team in the ranking of the season - the higher the place, the later the team plays.

The winner of the Winter Series, as in previous seasons, will be the team that beats the TV viewers with a higher score. If this indicator is equal for several teams, the one that played later gets the advantage. This team will be eligible to play in the Final of the Year.

Changes to teams and their lineups

  • Andrey Supranovich's team will not take part in the 2016 season.
  • Ales Mukhin's team will not take part in the 2016 season.
  • Rovshan Askerov left the team of Balash Kasumov and created his own, becoming its captain. Team members: Anastasia Shutova (played in the team of Andrei Supranovich), Alena Blinova (daughter of Alexei Blinov), Natalya Kulikova, Ekaterina Mereminskaya, Inna Semyonova.
  • Instead of Rovshan Askerov, Elman Talybov, who until 2015 inclusive was a member of Ales Mukhin's team, will play in Balash Kasumov's team.

Childhood and youth

Ales Mukhin is a native of the Republic of Belarus (city of Minsk). Born in 1976, September 16th. In an interview, he admits that in primary school he often did not attend classes and studied satisfactorily, although he had a high intellect. In high school, interest in education grew along with grades. In the biography of Ales, there are few facts about the family.

From secondary school parents transferred Ales to educational institution with an emphasis on English. This could not but affect the choice of a future profession: later Mukhin became a graduate of the Pedagogical University in Minsk, having received the specialty “teacher of history and in English».

One school incident played a role in Ales' education. In the eleventh grade, the future connoisseur was in conflict with the history teacher, defending the point of view about the influence of some historical fact to the course of events. To prove his point, as well as to expand knowledge in this area, Ales decided to become a teacher.

With games "What? Where? When?" Mukhin has known each other since school. The youth team "AMO" took part in competitions at the regional level. Interest in intellectual tournaments did not disappear even among students, and in 2001 the player was accepted into the ranks of an elite club.

Career

After receiving a diploma of higher education, Ales Mukhin devoted his time to business. He proved to be a brilliant entrepreneur in areas of activity that do not overlap with each other.

Mukhin took his first steps in the business world as director of a perfume company. Later he became the founder and leader of the Euroset branch in Belarus. During the management of the branch, Ales Vasilyevich managed to open 110 BelEuroset stores within the Republic.

Mukhin left the mobile communications business in 2008, having found a more profitable position in the Caravan company, which supplies tea and coffee to the country.

"Caravan" became for Ales the main project in life. Minsk sources publish materials about the company, employees and the director with interest. According to Realt.by, in 2014 the company was already the largest supplier of coffee and tea on the Belarusian market.

The CEO approaches management issues creatively and responsibly, taking care of every detail of the business. According to Mukhin, Caravan employees and guests should feel comfortable. Ales cares about the prosperity of the company, and this can be seen from the style of management, it can be read even in the interior, which was carefully worked on by a team of professionals.

It is known that a businessman puts maximum effort into any business. Perseverance and competent strategies in business allowed Ales Vasilyevich to get into the list of the most successful people Belarus.

The viewer knows Ales as a player and captain with a clear civil position, ready to defend the interests of the team. During the period of leadership in the games “What? Where? When?" there were enchanting victories and high-profile conflicts.

Since the beginning of March 2016, the strongest player, two-time winner of the Crystal Owl, owner of the Diamond Owl, winner of the What? Where? When?" . He left the game quietly, without scandal, so the audience realized it by the end of the summer, but this outcome was expected.

In 2014, Ilya Novikov acted as a lawyer in the case. From an interview for fontanka.ru, it is known that the expert informed the producer of the What? Where? When?" about the possible consequences of the scandalous case and agreed to leave the team at any time. For a couple of years, Novikov combined games (Mukhin's team was the winner three times, Novikov was recognized as the best player) and advocacy.

As representatives of the program explained, the situation is directly related to politics, and the participants of “What? Where? When?" should be far from it. For the audience there is no Ilya Novikov-lawyer, only a connoisseur.

In 2016, with the end of the Savchenko case, the controversy and scandal surrounding the lawsuits became impossible to ignore. The producer, according to Ilya, asked Novikov to abandon the upcoming games. The connoisseur agreed with the verdict and left the program before filming the spring series of games. Captain Ales Mukhin and other team members, following Novikov, refused to participate in the game.

Conflict over Ilya Novikov

One of the most popular players of the Mukhin team, Ilya Novikov, in his law practice, took up the case of the Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko, who participated in the armed conflict in the south-east of Ukraine. She was accused of killing Russian journalists, her lawyers insisted on her innocence and the need to extradite her to Ukraine.

In August 2016, in an interview, the host and head of the TV project asked Novikov to leave the club "What? Where? When?". Ales Mukhin's team, in solidarity with the player, also refused to take part in further games.

Novikov is a popular connoisseur. He began his career in the TV club in 2002. During this time he played 44 games. According to this indicator, he is in the top ten connoisseurs, taking 9th place. Boris Kryuk

According to Kryuk, Novikov had to make a choice between participation in the club of experts and a political career back in 2014, when he began working on the case of Nadezhda Savchenko. At the moment, the presenter believes that Novikov cannot continue to play in ChGK.

Understand, if you defend Savchenko and you are a ChGK player, it means that ChGK is also for Savchenko. […] ChGK is out of politics. And if you decide to go into politics, you need to say: thank you, I will do it.

Certainly[, he must go]. We have nothing to do with politics. […] First, say goodbye to us, and then deal with Savchenko.

Boris Kryuk, host of ChGK on Channel One

Ilya Novikov

Novikov posted on Facebook Hook's statements and said that he did not understand the campaign unfolding around his removal from participation in the TV show.

I have no complaints about Boris, and I don’t understand why others should have them. I was well aware when I accepted Savchenko’s defense in July 2014 that it could cause trouble “What? Where? When? ”, Coming out on Channel One. The first thing I did when I signed the protection agreement was to call the producers and say that I understand their difficulties and that I would leave at any moment.

For the first year and a half, this was not yet a problem, but by the spring of 2016, when the Savchenko trial reached the finish line, it became impossible to pretend that all this had nothing to do with politics. My lawyer duties, as I understand them, did not allow me to slow down, including in comments to the press. I then said every day in an interview that the purpose of my work was to help Ukraine organize pressure on Putin, and for this it was necessary to show that he and his subordinates were lying miserably.

Boris warned me that the more I say this, the more difficult it is for him to defend me. And that I need to prioritize. But I made up my mind with them a long time ago.

Ilya Novikov, lawyer

According to Novikov, the non-participation of Ales Mukhin's team in the spring series of ChGK games was explained by the fact that Novikov himself could not take part in the program.

The only thing I have not talked about before, and what is worth saying, since this topic has begun to be discussed publicly. My team was supposed to play in the spring series in March 2016, but they refused to sit down at the table without me. This touched me very much. Thank you, Ales, Yulia, Gunel, Grisha and Stas. Boris should find a way to get them back soon.

Reading this article:

boy with nice name Ales was born and raised in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. Here he first visited the most regular school, and then switched to specialized English.

As Mukhin himself notes, at that time he was very smart, but at the same time incredibly naughty.

And in elementary and middle school, he was an avid C student and only in high school moved into the category of excellent students.

The unusual bias of the school that Ales graduated from left an indelible imprint on him. This can be judged because future profession, which he received at the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after M. Tank, became the profession of a teacher of history and English.

Although Ales himself recalls that in the 11th grade he had a heated argument with a history teacher.

On the topic of interpretation of one of important events past and later he decided to prove to himself that he was right and to study this subject as thoroughly as possible.

Oh "What? Where? When?" the young man learned as a child. And just in new school the first club for this game was organized and Ales happily plunged into it. Over time, his team called "AMO" became the winner of many regional tournaments. At the university, Mukhin also continued to participate in games.

On the big screen Belarusian connoisseur first appeared in 2001 and immediately in the rank of captain of the team itself.

The first "Crystal Owl" went to this connoisseur in 2004. Ales also has the title of the best captain.

One more important point biography of a connoisseur associated with an elite club occurred in 2009 - that's when he became the host of the Belarusian version of ChGK on the ONT TV channel.

There is one more interesting fact, which very clearly characterizes Ales Mukhin as a person and a player in “What? Where? When?". It so happened that in August 2016 one of the players of his team, namely Ilya Novikov, was suspended from participation for political reasons.

It so happened that this expert, being a lawyer, defended the well-known anti-Russian activist Nadezhda Savchenko in court.

The TV show management considered this behavior unacceptable (the host's quote: “Understand, if you defend Savchenko and you are a ChGK player, then ChGK is also for Savchenko”). This situation struck Alesya and in support of Ilya, the whole team refused to participate in the upcoming spring series of games.

In parallel with these successes, both family and business life of Mukhin proceeded rapidly. But first things first.

Despite the profession of a teacher, Ales devoted his life to business. At first, he headed a perfume company, then moved as a top manager to one of the Belarusian branches of the Euroset company. During his leadership, this company opened many stores throughout Belarus.

True, in 2008, Mukhin's gaze falls on new project and he has no regrets transferred to Caravan which distributes tea and coffee. It should be noted that here Ales holds a position CEO. Such a career is simply enchanting.

At the same time, the well-known expert himself notes that he was never aimed at his own benefit, he is just interested in moving forward and he is not at all afraid to take risks.

He also likes to say that he owes the lion's share of his success in his work to “What? Where? When?". It was this game that taught him to constantly develop and improve himself.

While still a student, Ales met his future wife Tatyana.

Moreover, their first meeting was rather non-trivial - Mukhin's fellow student invited him to a costume party, where he saw a girl in a wedding dress.

The girl so impressed the young man that he immediately rushed into battle. Their relationship lasted for several years, then the wedding took place. In 1996, the wife gave the connoisseur the first-born Anton, and in 2004 their family was replenished with a daughter, Daria.

In addition to family and business, Ales has another passion - organ concerts and, in general, classical music.
