We carefully sort out the blackberries, removing debris, spoiled and unripe berries. To wash or not to wash the berries is up to you, look at the degree of contamination of the berries. Just after washing with water, a lot of valuable juice is lost.

We sterilize half-liter jars over steam. Wash the orange, scald it with boiling water and cut it into slices. Fill the jars 2/3 full with berries and add an orange slice. Cook the required amount of syrup at the rate of 350 g of sugar per 1 liter of water and fill the jars with berries with syrup. We cover the jars with clean preservation lids and sterilize them by placing the jars in a saucepan and filling them up to their shoulders with hot water (0.5 liter jars - 8 minutes; 1 liter jars - 10 minutes, 3 liter jars - 15 minutes). After sterilization, screw the lids on, place them on the lids and cover with a warm towel until they cool completely. That’s it, the delicious vitamin compote for the winter is ready!

Blackberry compote with rum

Ingredients:

  • blackberries – 1 kg;
  • sugar – 1 kg;
  • rum – 100 g;
  • water.

Cooking method:

To prepare such a compote, we prepare the berries (sort them out, remove the stems, wash them if necessary). In a separate pan, cook the sugar syrup as in the previous recipe. Pour the berries into the prepared syrup, boil for 5-7 minutes and set aside until completely cool. We select the berries from the syrup and split them into sterile jars, boil the syrup again for a few minutes, cool slightly and pour in the blackberries. Add a spoonful of rum to each jar and roll up. Bon appetit!
