The flow of music is amazingly fast. Sometimes it feels like a dazzling YouTube video pops up every week in the world of K-pop, signaling a birth. new group. The fandom is growing, the songs are at the top of the charts, we are looking forward to their music label preparing new trainees to start this cycle again. But with so many bands constantly debuting and breaking up, why is it so rare for mixed bands to form that include both boys and girls?

After all, the point is not that mixed groups cannot succeed, on the contrary, if we think of such groups as Urban Zakapa, Clazziquai Project, Koyote, 8Eight and MFBTY. And although none of these groups can be written into the K-pop mainstream wave, they nevertheless achieved amazing success in their respective genres.

Unfortunately, mixed idol groups tend to break up more often than they achieve popularity. For example, F1RST- a mixed group of three girls and four men who disbanded shortly after their second single "Ma Ma My".

Or sunny hill, who are gaining popularity as a female idol group after leaving the only boy group in 2014.

Let's think about Co-Ed School, which originally included four girls and six guys. Ultimately, they split into two groups: the women's F-ve Dolls and male SPEED.

Mixed groups do not long history success. K-pop fans have shown over and over again that they prefer separate male and female acts, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be interesting to see more off-the-wall concepts. At its core, K-pop is based on the difference of each song and artist from others. Mixed groups fit this easily.

It is also worth taking into account that everyone loves good duets. Mixed groups suggest various variations of such duets, because it is always nice to hear male and female vocals in one composition. Lucky J are a prime example of the excellent balance between rap and vocals in a song "No Love".

When it comes to performances, we can recall the favorites of many Troublemaker whose fire and chemistry set the scenes on fire.

Without a doubt, mixed groups are capable of expressive concepts that are not based solely on those that are only suitable for girls or guys. One of these can be seen in the music video sunny hill per composition "The Grasshopper Song".

Such an exceptional concept was also in the dance unit Younique.

Collaborative projects such as Triple T, Nasty Nasty and JIMIN N J.DON visually demonstrate the huge range of all kinds of ideas that mixed groups can embody. Although quite rare, they also offer a high level of novelty and quirkiness.

Yes, there are dozens of reasons why they might not work, but this rule applies to any team. For example, we didn’t hear about such that trainees from different agencies formed into one group and popularized it until the project appeared I.O.I. Perhaps such teams also need to open a second wind.

Do you think such mixed groups could become as popular as separate women's and men's groups?
