"Lift your head and you will see the sky"

At all times, people have created superheroes for themselves to be more self-confident or to overcome their fear. In ancient times, these were various deities, for example, Perun - the thunder god in Slavic mythology, the patron saint of the prince and squad in the ancient Russian pagan pantheon, or real historical figures: Alexander Popovich, governor Dobrynya and many others. But over time, people began to change internally: different people came to power, society developed rapidly in all areas, science flourished. The concept of culture and morality is changing, and all this affects the understanding of the meaning of the words “feat” and “hero”.

Since the Middle Ages, society has considered a hero to be someone who has money, charisma, outstanding abilities, great popularity and the ability to influence others. Such reasoning led to the fact that in Germany during the Second World War, Adolf Hitler was considered a hero and a person who could transform the world for the better. Also, heroes, both in Germany and in the USSR, were considered those who could kill more people, destroy more enemy weapons and survive.

But I believe that the real feat was not obscuring the guns or mass murder. True heroism was saving a stranger, because not only soldiers, but also civilians died in the war. Therefore, the true heroes are Nikolai Masalov and Trifon Lukyanovich, who saved German children during the storming of Berlin. These people understood that children are not to blame for anything and should not suffer. And so they, risking their lives, carried them out of the combat zones.

Another example of a true hero is Desmond Doss, an American World War II veteran. Desmond Doss was born into a very religious family, where all 10 commandments were revered and taken very seriously. When Doss turned 18, he declared his desire to volunteer to serve his country and received his draft number. War began to break out in the world. In 1942, his draft number came up, and Doss was drafted into the army. By this time, the United States had already entered World War II and was actively fighting the Japanese on the islands in the Pacific Ocean. Desmond Doss was about to be sent to serve in the infantry, but Doss categorically refused to take up arms. He was the first conscientious objector in the American army. For this, he experienced a large number of various humiliations from his colleagues and command. But in his first battles he proved that he had more strength than the strongest and most agile soldier. He wasn't afraid to pull other people out from under bullets without worrying about his own life. But his most striking feat was the battle in Okinawa. Then he alone saved 75 soldiers in 5 hours; there were not only American soldiers, but also Japanese. And even when this fearless man was wounded in the next battle, he provided the necessary medical care to others.

I think that a hero is, first and foremost, someone who strives to protect others while trying to cause the least harm to the enemy. He sacrifices himself for the sake of people he doesn't know because he understands that we are all different and everyone has something to fight for.

And there are many more such examples: Antonina Maria and Jan Zhabinski, owners of the Warsaw Zoo, who sheltered Jews from the Nazis; James Cleveland Owen - American athlete who won the Olympic Games in Berlin and shook the racial theory of Nazi Germany; Yuri Gagarin is the first cosmonaut who was not afraid of the unknown. And a huge number of other people who were not afraid to challenge the system and overcame their fears.

And it is precisely such people: kind, sympathetic, understanding and strong in spirit that are lacking in the modern world. People are trained to think only about themselves; politicians plunder the state treasury; scammers deceive the elderly and disabled without shame and conscience; the population strives only for money. And a new generation of children, looking at all this, begins to think that this is exactly how it should be. Who, if not adults, will tell them about the importance of kindness and mercy?

But all is not lost for our society, because there are those who are not afraid to sacrifice themselves in an extreme situation: firefighters, emergency workers and police. There are those who are ready to perform feats for science: astronauts, researchers. And there are just ordinary people with big hearts, with kind souls, who save animals, help those in need free of charge, and are ready to help at any moment. Such people, who have overcome their shortcomings and learned to live for others, deserve the highest reward - respect and human happiness.

I live in concentrations of light
An endless universal dream.
And I have the feeling of the planet,
Like light from a distant star...

Vladimir Strunsky

Space, outer space, astronaut! In the 20th century, these words were neologisms. But scientific and technological progress is constantly moving forward, so what was unknown yesterday has become firmly established in our daily lives today.

Outer space has been conquered by people, the first space flight in the history of mankind has been carried out, and the name of the first cosmonaut, Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin, has forever entered our hearts.

And here is another expression related to space - “Cosmos of the soul.” This is a beautiful, figurative phrase, or rather a metaphor, which is applicable, in my opinion, to those who are not just part of the Universe, but to those who have become attached to the Cosmos with their hearts and souls.

I know such a person firsthand. Let me introduce you to my father, Grigory Borisovich Prosyannikov.

There is a city in the Arkhangelsk region called Mirny, which has its “justifying” name. A quiet, cozy, beautiful military town, or to be more precise, this is the First State Test Cosmodrome “Plesetsk”. I was lucky to be born in this place. My dad, Grigory Borisovich Prosyannikov, is a military man, and this tradition is passed down from generation to generation. After graduating from the Rostov Higher Military School named after Chief Marshal of Artillery M.I. Nedelin in 2003, dad was assigned to one of the military units of the Plesetsk cosmodrome. In this part, he continued the family business. As they say, everyone has their own family, but when my dad’s both grandfathers were colonels, his father a lieutenant colonel, he was simply obliged to serve not just well, but excellently. I would like to dwell on this in more detail.

My great-grandfather, Prosyannikov Nikolai Stratonovich, in September 1941 was appointed to the position of assistant chief of communications of the 56th Lenfront Army. In January 1943, in the battles to break the siege of Leningrad, he was seriously wounded and until June 1943 was treated in the Lenfront hospital. After recovery, he continued his military service in the Lenfront troops in various positions. In December 1944, he was recalled for further service from the active army to the Higher Officer Artillery School at the Military Academy of Communications named after S.M. Budyonny city of Leningrad for a teaching job. During his military service, Nikolai Stratonovich was awarded the Order of the Red Banner, three Orders of the Red Star, the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd degree, and military medals “For the Defense of Leningrad,” “For Military Merit,” and “For Victory over Germany.” Died in 1989.

My grandfather, Prosyannikov Boris Nikolaevich, after graduating from the Rostov Higher Military School named after Chief Marshal of Artillery M.I. Nedelin, was also assigned to the Plesetsk cosmodrome. From 1973 to 1977, he took part in the flight design tests of the first ground combat missile system "Temp-2S" and in placing the first missile regiments equipped with these systems on experimental combat duty. After the Plesetsk cosmodrome, he served in the same military school where he taught at the department of Electrical Engineering and Power Supply for Missile Systems at the Rostov Military Institute of Rocket Forces. Currently working at the Department of Automation and Telemechanics in Railway Transport at the Rostov State University of Railways and Communications as an associate professor. He is the author of more than 150 scientific and educational works, has more than 30 copyright certificates and patents for inventions. He was awarded the honorary title “Honored Innovator of the Russian Federation.”

Having gone through a difficult path from an engineer in a launch group department to a deputy unit commander for armaments, my father never regretted that he chose this particular military career in his life. During 13 years of service at the Plesetsk cosmodrome, my dad took part in testing and placing on combat duty such missile systems as Topol-M and Yars. He has a sufficient number of awards, including the Suvorov Medal, awarded in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation in 2007.

Now my dad is serving in military unit 14272, he is the head of the Space Forces Arsenal. His service is not as dangerous as it is difficult. He has many plans that he strives to implement. Always be an example for everyone, weigh every decision. In our part there is a wonderful museum of Space exhibits, which reflects the history of the part as one of the pages in the history of the development of Space. Photographs, video clips, and individual exhibits allow you to flip through the pages of the era of space exploration. Old-timers are happy to tell how G.S. visited our unit. Titov, he met with local residents, shared amazing stories, answered questions related to the history of astronautics, so it is far from accidental that the street in our town where I live bears his name.

So my soul, albeit still very young, has already been “promised to the Cosmos.” After all:

I was born in the north of Russia.

I love you, my dear fatherland!

No matter how you look, you won't find anything more beautiful

Forests, fields, cloudless distance.

Although my city is not so famous,

He is not great, but he is very dear to my heart,

It is not by chance that he is called by a wonderful name:

My native city is Peaceful, which means PEACE!

It is far from Moscow, where the northern edge is,

Where there is space of trees and lake distance,

Where the cranberries, lingonberries, cloudberries are,

Where the summer is short, the winter is harsh,

Where rocket trails conquer the vastness,

Where the heart trembles with pride again!..

But even our family’s move to a new duty station, in my opinion, is also fateful. Our school is located on the territory of a military unit, despite the fact that it is rural, the teachers and students have many merits. And from September 1, 2017, it will become a school of innovative development with the cosmic name “PLACE-START”, a cadet class will be opened, in which I will begin training with great pleasure. And I have already taken the first steps towards stellar heights. I will share with you...

On February 3, 2017, a bright, unforgettable event took place in the life of our town, military unit and school - the solemn initiation into the Youth Army and the consecration of the Banner of the Youth Patriot detachment. All the guys from the detachment had already taken the oath, and I just had to do it. On the eve of this event, I was worried: this is responsible, honorable. A wonderful new uniform suited me, but I understood that this was not just a uniform, but underneath it was a member of the Youth Army detachment, who is a patriot of the Motherland (it is no coincidence that our detachment is called “Young Patriot”). And finally, these long-awaited words sounded, which I had repeated a thousand times before, albeit at home, but now they sounded differently: clearly, loudly, excitingly: “Young Army member Prosyannikov is ready to take the oath of the Young Army soldier.” Having mastered my excitement, I went out in front of the line of guys and loudly read the oath of the Young Army soldier. Now I can proudly stand on a par with them and bear this honorary title. In the evening, at a family dinner, my parents congratulated me: my father shook my hand and gave me parting words, my mother was very happy about such a serious decision on my part. Of course, now I have to work every day, prove with my actions and physical endurance that I am a real Youth Army member. And I try to live up to this proud title...

Raising my eyes to the sky, I dream about many things...

If everything in my life turns out exactly the way I want, then after graduating from the cadet class I plan to enter the Military Space Academy. A.F. Mozhaisky (many graduates of our school have successfully completed it and are serving in various parts of the vast Great Motherland - Russia) and to be a disciplined officer of the space forces.

Who knows, maybe in a few years I will conquer space and bring benefit to people and the Fatherland...
